Irritated and Disgusted
The Toronto consulate is by far the worse place to even try to renew or even apply for your Trinidad passport.I have been there 3 times on different occasions trying to get and renew passport even thought i am Canadian citizen i still need a PP , the people in there are soo unprofessional, RUDE and feel they still in Trinidad, operating like people dont have jobs or things to do but stay there all day while they carry on their "ole talk" and everything else except what they are there to do.They give you so much unnecessary run arounds,SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE THIS IS BECAUSE THEY ARE REPRESENTING TNT AND HONESTLY ITS A DISGRACE TO THE COUNTRY. THEY WORK ON THEIR TIMING ONLY,WHEN IS TIME FOR LUNCH ALL OF THEM GO ON LUNCH FORGETTING IT HAVE PEOPLE WAITING OUTSIDE FOR THEM, THEY WORKING IN CANADA THEY SHOULD LOOK AT HOW THE CANADIANS RUN THEIR BUSINESS AND TRY TO LEARN A THING OR TOO ABOUT PROFESSIONALISM, COURTESY AND RESPECT FOR CUSTOMERS..THAT PLACE IS A JOKE,I HAD BETTER SERVICE IN TRINIDAD ITSELF THAN WHAT I DID HERE, I SWEAR IF I DIDNT HAVE ANY TIES TO TRINIDAD I WOULD NEVER EVER APPLY FOR MY TRINIDAD PASSPORT ,SO DONE WITH YOU GUYS YOU ARE THE WORSE CONSULATE I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH...PLEASE TRY TO CHANGE YOUR WAYS YOU ARE NOT IN TRINIDAD YOU GUYS ARE SICKENING TO THE POINT PEOPLE CRINGE WHEN THEY HAVE TO DEAL WITH YOU ALL..BUNCH OF LAZY IGNORANT FOOLS.

Heart Breaking
It is heart breaking to read the comments I see posted here. I came here looking to apply for a job actually. I was almost deterred by all the negative comments...but I know I can make a difference in any establishment. I pray the tone of these comments change soon. I love my people and my country.

REVIEW, DISMISS and RE-HIRE
I sent an e-mail requesting information about renewing a passport. I live in British Colombia and it is not as easy as driving to the consulate. That was over 2 years ago and I am still waiting for some correspondence. I attempted contacting by phone but no-one ever answers. On another attempt I got an email notice that the Web page was not available. So here I am almost 3yrs since my first attempt with no passport. I love to travel. I am considering giving up my natural citizenship.

Excellent Experience!
My experience with the consulate was excellent! I found the staff to be professional, courteous and helpful. I applied for and received my Birth Certificate in exactly one week and spent a total of 10 minutes in the office. I simply:

• Read the online instructions
• Properly completed the required forms leaving no blanks
• Provided copies of original documentation and photocopies
• Provided a money order in the required amount.
• Was clear, polite and specific with the staff who dealt with me.

In contrast, on the day I attended there were others who were unprepared, had incomplete documentation and more importantly were rude, belligerent and inappropriate. Consulate staff were treated disrespectfully for doing their jobs, and I am absolutely confident that Trinidadians would never walk into a Canadian Embassy and behave in the same manner.

If you can’t respect your own people, how can you expect anyone to respect you?

Follow the rules
I visited the consulate with my daughter to have our passport renewed. Got there at 9.00 and took a number similar to the other people that was there. At 11.00 3 guys and a girl came in collected numbers and sat down. Apparently the girl was helping them fill in the forms. The woman who was taking the pictures just called one of the guys in to the photograph room to get his stuff fast tracked, after him his two friends followed. She apparently did the photocopying of their documents for them as well. All seated in the waiting room just stared at each other in amazement at the audacity of the shameless woman. They were in and out in 20 minutes. The issue is "what is the purpose of having numbers when friends just by pass the system". Please leave your nepotism and ghetto stupidity at the door when you come to work. Treat everyone fairly.

Really
I had been to the consulate in 2011 and I thought they were very friendly. The interviewer even hugged me. She was polite and very respectful but she was a shorter person so I'm guessing it was someone else.
I have to go for my 2 kids as I want to apply for Trinidad citizenship for them. I really don't see what there is to be intimidated or nervous about. It's not like it's wrong to get a passport. The comments I see are so strange.

Bad media
I am saddened by the comments made by these Trinidadian whose don't have the proper documents and expect to have their passports. These same persons will go to the Americas or canadian embassy with alla the required documents and extra. It is time they respect their country rule. To the person carol Algernon she should be ashamed of her behavior and disgusting comment.
