Ashamed to be Trini at this time
I consider myself to Trinidadian first and foremost, but right now, I am ashamed to call myself that. This consulate has got to be the worst place when it comes to customer service. And what is up with not answering the phone? It is not a decorative device folks. And it won't bite, but istead give other nationatilies the impression that even though we are a third world country, we are quite capable of handling the most basic of office equipments. And not ot mention, we also know something about good customer service. I hope whoever is in charge reads this and decides to raise the bar. We are better than this.

WHY
This place breaks the 1st rule of good customer service. Answer your phone. Still waiting for a copy of my birth certificate. Meanwhile, this document must be sent to the immigration office by 9/24 next Monday. No idea on the status of birth certificate request. Looking at legal remedies to this situation.

More to the story than what we are hearing
I have heard lots of stories of the negative way Trinidadians and Tobagoians are treated by the staff of the Consulate. I concur that everybody should be respected and not be treated with scant courtesy. This test that was given, was it an appraisal? No one is saying what kind of test was given. I think that would surely shared some light into the dismissal of the staff. This is a business and not some playground. The people of this country salaries are taxed to pay the workers. I want performance not to be embarrassed by some that's says its discrimination. As a nation we should stop using race as an issue because racial discrimination is all around us.

Worse place to visit in the USA .. Trinidad consulate NYC
There are so many born Trinidadian with masters in business living in the USA to have these uneducated staff at the consulate Officie , so many other places eg banks ,schools and hospitals you meet Trini that are managers ,giving excellent service then you go to the consulate and meet these RUDE staff .Another thing please check your website and have someone pick up the phone at the consulate ,in 7 hours wait all I seen is group gossip and personal phone call .. Love my country but I feel going forward will only use my USA passport no more renew (lost a customer ).. It is a shame they are all Trinidadian

its really bad
No one ever picks up the phone, I have had to go their 6 times in NYC, gotten bad information & sat in their office for an entire day only to be told to come back, the MIAMI location you cannot ever contact anyone, so I will try the email and see if it works ext 300 telephone voicemail is full & messages cannot be left for days now, Once I got thru & they hung up the phone on me. I love Trinidad but this backwardness cant work.

Please remember together we aspire & together we achieve.

i have had reasons to use the consulate , but from my experience calling or goin thier in person....the service is really bad... i will call for hours n no one will pick up the phone and when u go in person the workers there act like they all own the place, n no one can give a customer proper advice ...someone have to look into this ...maybe evaluate ur workers replace the ones who dont care .....i dont want to sound unfair but think off it alot off ppl need visas to go to trinidad n tobago ,when they have to deal with this nonsence,, imagine wat they will think off the ppl in trinidad n tobago?????????????
