Comments on this Consulate-General
I have the same complaint as all of the above. The service at the embassy is substandard at best. The clerks are rude and have no idea what is going on. Nor do they seem to care. I too am having trouble getting answers about my passport application . I applied since March and I still have no answer , no passport, and no idea what is happening. I sent in the yellow form along with my old passport and requested a signature confirmation . That was 3 weeks ago and still nothing. This is madness. I have a friend who is so fed up with Tribidad that she burnt her passport . She is giving up her Trinidad Citizenship!! Shame on Trinidad and Tobago!
I've been waiting on my passport since January it's June still didn't get it an I think the workers at the ny consulate is very unprofessional an rude the clerk at the front desk talks to you as if your stupid you cannot even ask a question they all gives you attutide sorry to say but there's nobody to complain they all the same in there.
I too applied for the Machine readable passport in February and I am still waiting now it is June...I am stuck, I cannot travel...have been putting off giving up my citizenship, all of a sudden I feel motivated!
T&T Consulate is so backward its a shame...not proud o be a trini anymore. I can't wait to get my US passport. I filed for my son's US a week and a half after mine and got it in the mail within 3wks. They give u a time on when u will receive it but the wait is much longer. I'm so frustrated and need to travel. They don't ever answer the phone and no one has answers to when the passport will be ready. They already have my money but yet still no passport. Smfh
I waited from 2011 to get an appointment for my new passport, My appointment was in June 2013 I had some problems about a name which I carried that was not in my birth certificate, I was told by the interviewing officer to go on the 3rd floor to swear an affidavit I spent a $100.00 US, my documents came to Trinidad and it took about five months before I got a reply so I spent unnecessary money because the affidavit was of no use, I still had to spend more money to do a deed of recertification which is costing me. The clerk that attended to me, to give me this information was very rude and unprofessional sorry to say but I can't wait to get my US passport. I am in NY and I never thought in this time that my people will be behaving like this heaven help us all.
I've not had the unfortunate experiences as per the above comments. They were respectful, and diligent in the organization of their work. However, I hope to be proven right in that my passport being received in the 2 months stipulated on the yellow rreceipt. All offices have their problems, thus far I'm still at peace with the professionalism shown by my compatriots. Add per the comments above, I'm sorry that your experiences has been thus. Keep heart.
hi

answer
I have filed for my new machine readable passport in which I was told that it should only take 5-6 weeks. That was back in feb 2014 and am still waiting and it is now middle of May. Of course no one picks up the phone and finding someone to help you is like finding a needle in a hay stack. Matter of fact the only people that were able to return my calls in regards to the status of my passport is the miami Trinidad consulate, go figure that.everyone is unprofessional and has poor customer service.
This is very frustrating.. Calling for 2 weeks.. No one answers the phone or responds to emails. The workers here are very disgusting.
