I'm happy to say that my experience was very good left Delaware early applied for a renewal of my new passport got it within the time 2 to 3 weeks. applied for certificate of character and everything has been working out exactly within the time that they told me.Pray and ask God to put the right people to help you and he will, there are some very good people working there and are willing to help . Some people also need to lose their attitude, come with a good spirit stop listen to what other people have to say go with a good attitude and Pray and God will do the rest.Be blessed people.

New Passport
Good day. Let me just say that i initially applied for a new passport on July 21,2014. In my mind i had already was conditioned to wait some months.
Well it happened. After processing all necessary forms and other documents, i finally log on to the web site and got the message to send in the old passport and the yellow receipt.
Actually, it took lest time to get the passport than it took to have the initial interview.
If you are a real Trinidadian, you all know very well that everything takes time.
To T & T Consulate, an active T & T passport, means family reunions, investments, visiting sick love ones, in some cases saying farewell for the last time.

Lets do our best.

Planning to get my citizenship just so I never have to go through this again and the new people running this place is no better than the ones before shame on trinidad government for having people like this represent our country

Disgusted
You think that these people in the Trinidad consulate in New York will show some professionalism, because they are in a different country and see how professional conduct themselves. But no, you can take the pig out of the mud, but not the mud out of the pig.

My honest comments (not even derrogatory) of today were taken down immediately
That speaks volumes of your disservice to T&T citizens if they cannot even post of the horrendous experience they had.

Why is it so difficult to simply renew or apply for a new T&T passport?
My son's passport is expiring in 2015. Strangely enough it is not clear on the embassy's own website as to how to renew a passport; it does give instructions on how to apply for a new passport though.

In searching the internet, which should really not be necessary, it appears that renewing is like applying for a brand-new passport. And honestly doing so for my son was a trial by fire. It was the most horrendous experiences I/we have experienced. We live in CA. so had to deal with the embassy I think in MA. or NYC cannot recall which. But just calling for information (don't even email them they never reply unless it suits them) was really terrible. Runaround and vague replies abounded. Finally my son was able to get an appointment in Los Angeles at a 'mission' location. This was in one of the worst areas of L.A. and it was in a local neighborhood clinic! Could not believe it. So in addition to the application fee, the hassle, we had to pay an expense to travel and stay in L.A. just for this.

So if the renewal is going to follow the same pattern as applying for his first-time passport my son may rethink it. It is just horrendous.

And looking at these recent comments it gives me zero confidence.

I had thought that after 5 years since we went through this awful process things would have improved. It is an embarassment that things are either the same or have gotten worse.
