A Consulate page but ONLY in Thai!!!!
So, Penang has a Thai Consulate where you would suspect that a significant proportion of its users will not be Thai and the choses language for the website is mostly, Thai!! Very useful! How about AT LEAST having English which is widely spoken in Malaysia and Bahasa Malay. Unbelievable, and a largely useless site as a result!!

No English Info at Penang web site
I too, am dismayed the Thai Consulate Penang information pages are in English language. Get with it Thailand, ASEAN EC is right around the corner. How will you possibly compete if English is not spoken widely ?

Smoking at the waiting area
A few weeks ago, I brought an American friend to your Thai Embassy in Penang, Malaysia to get a visa. I am a few months pregnant. I was uncomfortable sitting or standing at the small waiting area next to the guard house because of cigarette smoke. i had to tell some of the visa applicants not to smoke and pointed to them the "non smoking sign" pasted on the wall above the staircase of the afternoon waiting area. However, i was told by the smoker and your security guard that smoking is permitted at the waiting area below the staircase at where people queue up ( next to the guard house) in the afternoon. For your information, there aint just pregnant women there but many children. Since the area is so small and confined by the surrounding plants and buildings, smoking should not be permitted as it caused discomfort towards others. Smokers should just smoke outside the compound before going to the waiting area.

Thialand work visa
I went to the Singapore Thia Embassy to obtain my class B non immigrant re=entry visa for my work permit in Thailand,it is only open from 9AM to 11 AM and you stand in line about 1 hour and there is only one lady working in the visa section and she is very rude and always finds a mistake after 2 days of rejecting my application for no reason I gave up at much cost and time to our small company because I did not have the time to play her silly games and keep returning day after day for no reason.

Non-Immigrant
Hii,

Right now i am studying in Thailand. FYI, i got different information about the Non - Immigrant Visa ED with Multiple type. Before this, I've got the temporary visa for 3 months only. After registered as student here in Thailand, i go out through Rantau Panjang-Thai Boarder. Officially my visa has been stamped out as "used" and i've got only 30 days to be here as tourist's visa even though i am student here.

After used the visa, i have been to Custom Thailand for several times, and Thai console in Kelantan said before, "I CAN APPLY THE 1 YEAR EXTENSION OF THE NON-IMMIGRANT VISA THERE (Thailand) ".

However after has been bounced back by Thai Custom here which was very rude, always speak in high notes and always make regulations by their own, it makes difficulties to apply the visa extension.

FYI, I already got all the documents they need as they mentioned before. However, during the next meetings, they always add others document for the procedure, the documents as mention below;

a) offer letter from my universities
b) Afidavit letter from Malaysian government
c) Proof letter to show me as student here
d) photocopy of my pasport.
e) Passport photo size (2)

Before this the reason they can't give me the visa was my documents is not complete. Recently, my visa has been rejected because i used the tourist visa and they scold me because i do not fill the re-entry form to entered Rantau Panjang-Thai boarder.

For your information, I did not get the information from Thai immigration regarding this matter, even i have told them that my visa was single type and it will be cancelled if i go through the boarder and i have asked them, is it any form for me to fill if i dont want the visa to be cancelled. The answered is short and loud "NO".

Is it the documents still not enough? I have contacted Thai Console in Kelantan. The told me that they can't make the Multiple type visa with 1 year extension. Why Penang can? What is the differences between Penang-Thai console and Kelantan-Thai Console? If the reasons are,its depends on the console, its really hard to be accepted and it show bias judgement to me or other persons who applied for the visa's.

After go through many difficulties to make the visa here, I try to contacted Penang-Thai console. They answered very politely, gentle and make me understand what should i do to get the visa after this.

Thanks for your information through phoned before. However, for my personal opinion, its really hard to deal with the Thai custom here. The dissapoinment matters here is every officers have their own rules to make the visa.

By the way, thanks to Penang Console for the information. I am really appreciate your help. Looking forward to see you soon.

Best regards,
malaysian citizens
