TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
Dear Sir/Ma
My name is omoniyi segun kolade. i am a citizen of the lovely country Nigeria and i have a bachelors degree in geology and mining from the prestigious nasarawa state university keffi, Nigeria. it has always been my dream to become a professional in the field of geosciences. so, while in school i made enquiries about where could have a good masters degree in course in geosciences. i got to find out that sweden was a good country where i could realise this dream of mine so i applied for a masters program in marine geosciences in the prestigious stockholm university immediately after obtaining my first degree and carrying and taking part in the compulsory NYSC in my country. I was given the admission which was a major step towards achieving my dreams.then the issue of obtaining a students visum came up and i then made inquiries at the swedish embassy website in my home country about the funds needed. right there on the swedish embassy website, the conversion rate was between the kronor and dollar(the conversion rate should have been between the naira and krona) which was a reason why i made a mistake in making a correct calculation on the actual amount needed for my studies. the surprising thing is that the the swedish embassy Nigeria has my phone number which is on my application form, all they needed to do was to call and tell me my money was not enough instead they mailed this information to the migration board who in turn refused me a residence permit. when i was told i was not given a residence permit because of insufficient funds and i was told to appeal i did so and i still insisted that my money was enough because your embassy refused to give the basic orientation on how to do my funds calculation. the migration board then forwarded my appeal to the migration court and i was not given access to my public counsel or representative lawyer, assuming i had access to my lawyer atleast i would have known quickly paid in the remaining money and would have had a good case in the migration court.
the case was therefore carried out in my absence and won because of a simple mistake that was cause as a result of what i saw on the swedish embassy website Nigeria.the most baffling part of this whole saga is that the migration board grants student a residence permit of a duration of one year at a time and the money i have in my account when the decision not to give me the visa was 132000 kronors which is enough to take care of me till when i apply for my second year. this would have been the best time for the migration board to refuse me a students visum if i am not able to show proof of financial support.
MY final hope which is the migration court of appeal also refused to change this decision even after fulfilling the aliens act which state that a prospective student must show proof of support before been given a students visa.
i must state at this stage that all i can say at this stage is that this is racism of the highest order and i will take my case to the world court, report the swedish embassy Nigeria to the NIgerian ministry of foreign affairs and also sue them to court. i have given alot of job opportunitie up because i believed so much on the swedish institutions and just see what i been paid with
my mom, dad and family is so sad because of this and i know God in heaven will surely see me through because i am been wrongly punished for tdoing things the right way.
THanks for disappointing me after putting my trust in your institutions. other european embassies provide support services or interviews for intending students so they dont make similar mistakes and they are usually forgiven as soon as they make such mistakes but you prefer to punish me for such a simple mistake.i will leave everything in the hands of God after reporting the swedish embassy in Nigeria to the relevant authorities in my country because i refuse to be given such a shabby and undeserved punishment.
THanks
