Consulate very unhelpful
I am a US citizen and was informed on exiting the country last summer, that if I spend more than 90 days there, that I need a special visa, so I contacted the consulate in DC and they said that since I live in Los Angeles, I need to contact their local office. No one answers their phone and they give you an e mail address, so I have sent several e mails and no one bothers to reply. Where do I go for help?

Service or no service
I find dealing with the
Chicago consulate of Spain very difficult. It seems that the officials insulate themselves from the American People and other clients. Office hours are very limited and getting into the consulate to do anything is like going through a Cretan maze.

visa for au pair in spain
My daughter plans on going to Spain to be an au pair for about 6-9 months. She is doing this through an international au pair program. We need to know exactly what type of visa she needs for this, whether student visa, work visa, etc, and the requirements for obtaining the visa. We have been told that she would have to take many expensive Spanish classes to obtain her visa and I need to have all of this verified. Thank you very much for any help you can give us.

Terrible service
This is the worst case for an office of any kind, but when you include bureaucrats who are rude and always on vacation, this office takes the prize. Bad example for Spain. I am ashamed to say I am spaniard. Close this office or remove this consular.
