Thank you to South Korea for your loving heart and kindness for helping my patents country. I've never been to Cambodia but I would love to go and see where my parents came from and feel the pain they were going through. Even though I was born and raise in America but my heart will always be in with Cambodia. It broke my heart to the core to see the young kids with no food, clothes, shelter and especially no or little education. I wish I can help in any way but I have little source and before my parents would sent money to an orphan girl in Cambodia but before she stay with her grandma but when grandma pass away she was left out in the street and when my parents went and look for her to give her money she was nowhere to be found but from the bottom of my heart I really wanna now bow down to S. Korea and thank you for your generosity god will be so good to your country for all you have done for another country... Thank you again

Helping feed poor malnourished Cambodian children at Stung Meanchey rubbish dump with the ' Volunteer Project '

The South Korean embassy came to see me one day, asking kindly if they could help the poor malnourished children who lived on the Phnom Penh city rubbish dump, they were aware I was the founder and the first to help these children in my unique way! Money to food to the children within 2 hours! All kindly done by the people that came to help! They asked if I would supervise a bus full of South Korean students to the dump on a regular basis, they added that they would pay for a full load of food each time, this would mean 500 extra meals for my children, I could not refuse and this was to be about every two weeks, wonderful! And the world at last was becoming aware of these poor children's plight and the horrendous horrors they live in, as 'The New York Times', 'National Geographic', Readers Digest', ' Le Echo' and numerous documentaries had already discovered ' The volunteer Project'.
Another 500 meals delivered by privileged young people from South Korea, they were about 18 to 20 years old, I thought this was a wonderful idea by the Embassy to do something like this for their young students, all appeared well off with impeccable manners and obviously from very good families! I doubt they had ever seen the horrors they were about to see or ever imagined they would ever experience them. I have to say, these students were the nicest, kindest young people I had ever met of this age group. Their manners, courtesy and consideration for my poor families and children were without question. I was so impressed with them, I have nothing but praise for them and their Embassy for showing such humanity. I had never imagined in the 21st century young people could behave so perfectly.
They arrived our meeting point, at my bar/ restaurant in their bus all very excited, I climbed into, the bus and thanked them profusely for being kind enough to buy food and give to the poor children they were about to meet. I ran through the procedure of the trip, that we were going to the wholesale market together to buy the food, then straight on to the dump to feed the children, immediately there was a very embarrassing spontaneous applause.
I did the rounds at the wholesale market with my bus load of students, all very taken with what was going on and interacting wonderfully and enthusiastically. They were enjoying this experience so much, you could see it in the expression on their faces. They all involved themselves with the various transactions for all the food, this was probably the first time any of them had even seen such a market. We all returned to the truck, the students carrying and loading up the food.
We got to the dump and obviously they were so shocked to see human beings in this environment in the 21st century, unbelievable! But their shock did not deter these kind young people from doing their designated job with great enthusiasm and human kindness and great compassion. When it was time to leave they wanted the preverbal group photos with the children and then they said their fond good byes. It was a wonderful day for these kind students of South Korea, the children at the dump and me. They all climbed into their bus, I thanked them for their wonderful kindness and humanity, another very embarrassing round of applause in appreciation!
I was looking forward to the next bus load to see if this groups behavior was a 'one off', it was not! Every group that came thereafter behaved in the same impeccable way. I thought if the rest of the nation was as these teenagers, South Koreans are a gracious race. I had never thought of going to South Korea before, but after my experiences with these kindly people, it is a 'must' for me to go! Thank you so much South Korea and your very wise Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Violent crackdown on unarmed civilian garment demonstrators
Mr. Embassador:

As an American citizen I am appauled and outraged to hear that the Korean embassy and the Korean government are involved with the Cambodian government in the violent repression and crackdown on Cambodian civilian garment workers who only demonstrated for a livable wage of $160 a month much below other countries int he region.

Korea is a democratic country and one of a major investors in Cambodia. I expect and hope that the Korean embassy and government help to promote democracy as they do business in Cambodia. Business interest should not support killing of innocent garment workers.

Sir/Maddame, the Korean embassy and government should not be co-perpetrator of the savage beating, shooting and killing of Cambodians. I urge your government to obey by international norms in order to maintain and improve living standard and quality of life for Cambodians. The beating and tortured of civilians by military death squads are shocked to the conscience of the world.
