I am really disappointed Reading one's fellow Ethiopian opinion with the title "My grandPa fought in Korean so what?".
Firstly if this chap has distant relative letalone grand father who fought in Korea he will be proud for what his relative did and refrain from writing this kind of tagish and irresposible opinion.
He said "Korea does not have Oil or Gold" what a back ward idea only expected to come out of retarded mind.
For him Oil and Gold are big deal and a yardstick to measure development and national wealth.
Whether he like it or not Korea has first world economy her economy is based on Industralisation and technology oriented. Korea has highly advanced and integerated Industrial sector. Korea is one of the major exporter of Automomotive, Electronic products including commputers,Ships including Oil tanker ships and other heavy industrial goods including Earth moving and minning equipments. Her economy is not based on buying and saling gold.
What the whole world with the exception of this chap and his likes appreciate about Korea is the way they Developed with out the need for preaccumulated capital and without depending on natural resource. Of course foreign investment and support from Western nations played vital role along their witty, hard working, with sense of purpose labour force.
A nation to develop needs Foreign direct investment a nation can only attract if it has all comparative advantages to other proxy nations including stability, Excellent Economic policy and governance,Strong backing from major world powers which is a result of working in areas of international relation, resource including skilled man power and natural resource.
This guy based his opinion in not solving Ethiopia's internal problem through dilogue and discusion, still dreams to emulate Egyptian revolution which no one knows where it is heading after all this death and distraction.
Wise people solve their problem around tabe not through killings. There might be few individuals who might share this chap's opinion, who are dreaming death and distaction to come to Ethiopia, unlike them death wish conspiracy is not playing in the mind of most Ethiopian's and most Ethiopian's including me do not subscribe this kind of distractive opinion.
Finally I would ask the people and Government of Korea to do its utmost to channel the support and scholarship option to the children of The Korean war Veterans.

MY GRANDPA FOUGHT IN KOREA, SO WHAT?
Dear Sisters and brothers,
I believe that SK is a tiny tiny country probably the size of one of the smallest provinces of Ethiopia and almost with no natural resources like gold, oil, etc.
Take pride in your country and work hard to develop your country instead of wasting your time begging others to help you.
We have a great country with great resources but a corrupt, racist system.
Emulate the Egyptians and get rid of the corruption, nepotism, racism and own your country and change it for the better.

Dear Sir/madam,

I am writing this to express my greatfulness to the offer made to children of Korean war veterans and to highlight the offer deserve to be handled carefully in order the right people or family get the opportunity.
As far as I see nothing is wrong in applying for scholarship even one is not a family member as some individuals wrote on this forum but, it is moraly wrong to rove the opportunity given to the family of veterans and send others in their place.
I have no idea actually if some individuals are already in korea after getting scholarship but, what I know is not a single member from my family got the opportunity and still they are waiting for.
I still beleive the Government of korea and Ethiopia do their best the opportunity chanelled to the familly fairly and not roved by opportunist people. Ofcourse from the start the veterans went to korea not dreaming their campaign to fight for the people of Korea will bring material benefit, they went their to do their job on behalf of the united nation.
Being the the people and Government of Korea are greatful decided to support their family. This recent phase of support is not the first, they did a lot of support, Ethiopia to tackle her famine problem.
What make this one special is the support in form of scholarship is designed to benefit the family of veterans. So it is the duty of the people and Government of Ethiopia to pick the right family member and to protect it from abuse. The veterans went to Korea not in form of raffle and consequently the opportunity should be distibuted fairly to family of veterans. I think one from a family is fare and if it was this way it is fare and there will be no room for mishandling and nepotism. Take my family for example not a single person got the opportunity ater going through regesteration process.
Realy if this opportunity is used by or given to others it is shame. For us being roved is not the first time and we family of Korean war veterans walk our heads up and enjoy the benefit associated with being roved and the rovers who took our opportunity will live with all the guilt through out their life.
As I stated in my earlier writing I personaly do not have the interest to share the opportunity but would like one of my family to benefit personal wish is the opportunity to be distributed fairly and the Government of Ethiopia to do its utmost effort inorder the rightful people get the opportunity.
For me what the Government of Ethiopia did to recognise The contribution of the Korean War Veterans is more than enough.
