Birth Cert and passport
I waited 9 months and called every 3rd day about birth certificate for my 2 sons and myself .. luck before I left I went in there and completely freaked out screaming shouting going mad ... all of a sudden they printed them and gave them to me.
it took well over 50 calls and I was told it was in process every time... IT IS NOT IN PROCESS best you get someone there to go in and just go mad screaming and shouting.. that is the only way i managed to get mine after 9 months of trying every other option

South African passport services
I don't live in NZ but in fact live in France. But your website was the only one on which I found some objective info about passport services in SA- thank you.
I followed the advice of Iris Cousins (comment 18 Oct 2011) and I cannot tell you how delighted I have been with the service provided by Cherry Muir of Easi Passport Services in Durban, SA. I needed an abridged and vault copy SA birth certificate and Cherry delivered exactly what I wanted within 6 weeks at a cost which was very competitive vs the other immigration consultancy services that I looked at online.
Some years ago I tried to get this certificate just by paying the standard fee at the SA High Commission, Trafalgar Square, London. I never ever received it despite complaining to them that I had paid a fee and they had never delivered. I gave up in the end! So if someone needs a SA birth certificate I would recommend they get in touch with Cherry Muir, Easi Passport Services:

Thank you Aysha - Always the best, most courteous service!
I keep seeing people complaining on this page. I have had only the most obliging and helpful service from Aysha. She does her utmost to provide one with the best support and service and is always willing to 'go the extra mile' for you. She can't be held accountable for what happens in SA and can only relay the information she has to you! THANKS AYSHA and keep up the good work!

Birth Certificate for minors
Hi,I've been trying to get my son's birth certificate and passport. After numerous attempts applying from here,I've had a family member in CPT take the forms and they were informed by the Home Affairs office in Cape Town that the DHA-24 forms have apparently been changed and that the forms sent to me by the Wellington office is incorrect. Its really frustrating getting the incorrect forms. I now have to wait for new forms to be sent to me and go for fingerprints again. As you know, you have to wait weeks before getting appointments for fingerprints. Please make sure the updated and correct forms are sent out to people.

Thank you
Aysha, your assistance with obtaining the forms we needed to re-apply for my husband's passport and a temporary passport was appreciated. We are about to send everything to the commission to get the ball rolling. I hope there won't be a delay with the temporary passport as husband's SA passport expires in February.
