Resuming Critical Skill Visa application
My application was with Consulate for 3 months and the process was taking time.I had to travel abroad so i RETRIVED my application and was told that once the passport is deposited back, the application will resume.

It has been 7 months now and wanted to resume the application. I am still in abroad and planing to visit Mumbai to resume the application.
Wanted to know how long will the application take if i submit my passport? Issue is that the consulate wants the passport to be submitted and it stays with them till the process complete; it not possible for me to keep my passport for months again.

Need answers on the below queies.
1) How long will the application take for processing if i wish to resume my application
2) Is it possible that i check the application details and i it is ready to stamp, i submit my passport and get the stamping in "tops a week of time"?

Immigration lawyer
My VISA application was handled by an Immigration agency hired by my employer, they have categorically stated (as has VFS too) that all decisions in relation to an application rests with the Consulate. You can ask for a status check or an update *AFTER* the stipulated TAT of 60 days has passed. Beyond that too all enquiries must be routed through VFS.

Also, I do not think I am making the right reference here (as immigration agency/consultant in my view does not qualify it to a lawyer)

@Mahesh, any immigration lawyer you can mention here?

@Mahesh
Thanks bro, I am avoiding all travel anyway because of personal reasons, but this info is nice to know. I am not sure if asking for your passport for a stipulated time would have an adverse effect too. : |

VFS the only source for info
I called up the consulate today (Mumbai) and without giving my ref ID, I enquired about the delay and tentative date (its been 40 days since my critical skills visa was filed) I am not able to travel abroad for personal and professional duties as my passport is with them, the South African official (managed to get hold of one after talking to the executive at first) told me to wait for 60 days as this is the MINIMUM TAT (turn around time).

All enquiries can be made after 60 days but at VFS only, calling up at the consulate and enquiring might have a adverse affect on your application (this disclaimer was provided to me directly)
