Just to add to the point being discussed here, I along with my entire critical skills application added the resignation letter AFTER i read about it in this forum. So yes, I had a job offer in hand and I also handed my resignation letter to the consulate. This probably helped my cause, as I had the relieving and the experience letter to show for it, I built up a strong case to show how i am unemployed and stuff (was doing freelancing for that period). But I know how UNFAIR it is for most of us to be expected to "COOK" up a resignation letter in anticipation of a VISA.

Relative visa
My wife and kid applied for the relatives VISA, can any one tell me the estimated time it takes for the relatives visa to come through? I have already joined my work here in SA and would fly in to bring them here.

I think most people here if not everyone is sensible enough to know that this site is not operated by SA officials but thanks for clarifying that although unnecessarily.

The reason people share their experience here and ask others about theirs is because its a forum designed to learn from others' mistakes and not repeat them while submitting our own application.

If you are concerned that 'chatting' here is not the right way and are discounting its credibility then don't add to it.

This web site is not operated by the SouthAfrican consulate officials at Mumbai,So don't waste your time here.Contact the Consulate directly or mail/phone. Nowadays this area becomes a chatting room for others too.

Please share your experience
Based on your current experience with the consulate, can you please share:

- What visa have you applied for?
- When did you apply?
- Have you received a rejection/approval yet? If so, how long it took to receive the same?
- Have you been to SA previously on a permit?
- Have you emailed/called the consulate to check on the progress? if so, what response did you receive?

As many responses as possible would be appreciated. These may not only help people here but also reduce the repeat questions on this forum.

@Raji you have posted 'visa approved' three times here: once on 15th Jan, then 20th Jan and now on 24th Jan. whats the deal? Seems to me that either you're seeking attention, in that case, congratulations, or this is a fake account trying to troll applicants here?
