NOW IN PARDO, MIRAFLORES
I was doing some shopping in Vivanda of Av. Pardo in Miraflores, Lima, Peru. And this woman in her 50s, short around 150 cm and light blue eyes approached to me. She told me the same story about being robbed in the taxi and not having her passport, hence requiring 200 soles to go to Quito. She must have done it for a long time, because I inquisitively asked her about details, if she had contacted her family in South Africa, where was she staying (she told he she had to sleep in Park Kennedy the night before), and she did't hesitate to answer all those questions.

Petranella
This woman is now in Guayaquil, Ecuador with the same story. If she is really a South African citizen, why the Southaafrica's Embassy authoŕites don't make a international scam alert?

South African con artist
Yes, she is still in Miraflores around Petit Thouars accosting people for money. Same story about being robbed of everything on the bus from Arequipa and needing $100. She goes up and down the area and if you refuse she will abuse you, swear at you and says she wants to make sure you're robbed at gun point so you would then know what it feels like! She's s con artist and avoid her at all costs.

June 10th 2017 and she is still here
Repeated the same information above. Near Barranco main plaza, I was walking with my camera in hand and headphone on. She accosted to me in the infamous SA accent and cried quite convincingly. I just gave her 10 soles though she said she needed 100 dollars. (I mean why not in soles??) I found this thread as I wanted to verify the supposed absence of south african embassy in Lima. She acted agitated once I went inside a restaurant to talk to assure my physical safety and scolded at me for being so "not nice"

Petra again
Just ran into this same woman earlier today. Being South African I felt extra sympathetic and gave her some money. Her story is pretty convincing if you aren't aware of the embassy in Lima (feel a little embarrassed now). Careful out there!

Petra scam strikes again
The same woman by description told me her name was Petra and she had a South African accent. We were at the Plaza Vea supermarket on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. Same story about being robbed by taxi driver and wanting to get to Quito. Forewarned is forearmed.

Petranella the Scammer
We were scammed in Jockey Plaza (outside food court) by the same woman described above, and went by the name Petra. She claimed she was robbed at gunpoint by a taxi driver that picked her up at the Cruz del Sur bus station. She said she had just returned from Arequipa, and was intending to go downtown. She claimed her laptop, cell phone, passport, money and luggage were all stolen, and that she had spent the previous night on the street. She said she needed $100 US for a bus ticket to Quito, Ecuador, where she claimed the nearest South African embassy was located.

Petranella sighting
Larcomar this afternoon. Same story as others here, but I didn't believe her and she became quite agitated when I suggested that she visit the SA embassy in San Isidro. I even offered to take her to the Canadian Embassy but she refused.

She looked sunburnt today, and had a convincing south African accent.
