Hi all, i had my friend coming to South Africa on a student permit. he gave his visa in and was told it would take a week or two by the lady on the counter. When he received no calls he spent 3 weeks going once a week to check at the embassy if it was ready. He lost his patience on the 4th week and requested his passport back. Upon receiving his passport he saw that he had received the visa the week after he gave it in and ended up spending another 4 extra weeks waiting for nothing. Had he not asked for his visa he would not have known. The same egyptian guy at the counter always checked and said not ready meanwhile all along he knew that my friend had already received his visa. I don't know why he did this but please always get different people to help if possible at the embassy or you might end up having a bitter person lying to you for no apparent reason. He spent 3 weeks paying for a hotel stay in which he didnt have to had he known his visa was ready. As a South African i was disappointed as it does not reflect how South Africans represent themselves
