Visa Enquiry
I invited my mother to SA who is 60 years old to come and visit. I send all the documents the embassy needs but everytime she gets there those fat corrupted ladies comes up with ideas and asked her to bring another document. We send every necessary document but since they want bribe they keep on asking more documents. They want the bank statment which has a stamp to be certified by the police and when I took it to the police, the officer was shocked to hear that. The ladies has no clue how things work in SA. They are arogant, angry and very ugly people which doesn't even represent the Ethiopian people. They are there to get bribes and help their own family and friends.

I think the main problem are the ladies in front. I heard that there are two time groups. People who comes in the morning who are legal and people who comes in the afternoon are the ones who has dealings with the ladies.

But my question is where are the big bosses (the cosulate ) and the others who deals with the visa process when all this happens. Does it mean they don't care or may be they don't know how things work in their Embassy.

Is there some one who can hear our crying? Please remove those arogant ladies from the front desk and get some one else who has a better IQ. They are deminishing the value of SA.

Gremlins with Transit visa
Can you please spell out clearly the requirements for transit visas? A case in mind: My fiancee has the valid return ticket to the country of destination, the requisite visa to the country of destination and the only crime she has committed is to transit via Johannesburg to Windhoek. Now the Embassy Visa section requires the following:
- a copy of my passport
- a recommendation letter from her employer in Ethiopia to prove that she is employed
- a copy of her bank statement.

What does this got to with a transit visa? She is not visiting South Africa, she is only for 2.5 hours at OR Tambo Airport en route to another country. Are these the requirements or are the stuff at the Embassy soiling the reputation of South Africa by creating their own rules?

So if you are a tourist and you are transiting thru Johannesburg and because you are Ethiopian, you need to have a passport copy of the person you are going to visit (for God's sake, I am a tourist). You need to provide proof of income and proof of employment?

This is pathetic and judging from the comments on this thread, this is an attack on an institution which functions in other countries par excellence. Why can't the Dept of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs fix the rot at the Embassy of South Africa to Ethiopia?

no answer
Why don't you shut down the embassy? i've tried to call your office, but no answer. you don't allow people to get in to the compound, neither answer your phones, so what's the use of the beautiful, artistic building? please shut it down and let other people do some good stuff there.

Reply to 'Spider day'
Dear 'Spider day' If u r South African, u have a long way to go and understand before u coment about Ethiopian people . Ethiopian people did not kill SA's textile. china did. only rich ppl can afford sA textile for its is expensive and poor quality clothing. That is why the govt allows China to flood SA with Chinese products.
