I wonder how the SA Embassy officals couldn't correct such an image damaging practice! There are many young professionals that can serve well and build the image of SA at the front desK. Hope, the officials will do something soon.

Act like a human
I have been to USA,Germany, and some African countries including this damn SA. I attended a workshop in JNB in 2005 and also attended a masters program thereafter for two years in the same country but different city. South Africans (those in there) are people any one can count down to; they are unbelievably great people. The ones here however are corrupt and thrush (excuse my rough words).

I share same sentiment with all the commentors above that the front desk at the embassy is the dirtiest ever. The ladies are you find there are really ignorant of the world today...ladies please go update yourself. SA may be your dream place on earth but not even for common Ethiopian, leave alone me.

Excuse me t o suspect three things for the ladies to behave how they do:
1. They are confidence sterile regarding their job security and they try to prove points that they care
2. They are corrupt jus like their bosses (don't qoute me-Zuma is the grand corrupt on Earth)
3. They are sexually exploited and always speak in favour of their sex partners (dont' qoute me-Zuma is the grand adulterous person on Earth; no surprise if his diplomats do same)

So, please don't judge the ladies as they might have been entagled in one of the cases.

Let me stop here; you don't know....

Not a good image of South Africa
I had the same experience of bad service and incompetent and unfriendly front desk officer some years back. I don’t think the embassy officials visit this comments. If they do, they should really do something about it. For the proud South Africa we imagine, this is not a good image at all. Your embassy is your face abroad. You can deny visas but do it on a justifiable grounds and clearly specified requirements. It is not difficult at all.

What a nasty place to visit
I visited your embassy last week and find out your attitude towards people. You do not even let me get into the office and talk with those stupid ladies who keep asking for more documents and keep saying lies about confirmation. They asked me to get confirmation of invitation and the organization sent to their email immediately but they said the company information was not correct. But both they and I know that everything was in order. I was just wondering how those fat ladies who get thousands of dollars per year lie and continue to lie working for an embassy.
You may reason out that they are tired out people but the American Embassy which is being visited by more than a 100 people managed to prepare a sit for all the visitors and interviews all people respectfully and give or deny visa based on their regulations. I have lots of respect for the American people and for the American Embassy here in Addis Ababa but I hate the South African embassy that despises my people while taking hundreds of square meters from our respected land. I hate the lady named Mrs. Dirshaye for her distressed face and for her unrespectful languages. Go to hell.

One of the most corrupt embassies I have ever seen
I applied for visa to attend a conference in South Africa. A lady who speaks Amharic treated me like a dirt. She asked me several questions and then looked at my employment letter. She said it was fake but I confirmed her it was real. She asked me why the heading was scanned and I told here this was the custom of our office. (We use printouts of scanned copies instead of original headings to make things easier.) Then she asked me unnecessary documents which I submitted in a day time. Then I was scheduled for visa. On that day she asked me one more document and I had to spend the whole afternoon to get it. when I came back at 4 pm, she kept me waiting at the gate. I had to wait there for two hours. After 6 PM she sent the guard and informed me (through the guard) that the organization that invited me couldn't confirm my being invited to South Africa. I asked why she didn't tell me in advance so that I would inform the conference organizers to confirm it? She had no response and she had no willingness to give me the visa. We spent for minutes arguing and I came home without the visa. I will never visit that embassy again. It is so bad.

Disrespectful
I really can't understand just why people get away with not doing their job! It is your responsibility to clearly spell out just what is required for the Visa. The one page thing you have posted their doesn't begin to explain the things you keep asking us to get over and over!
The person I have most trouble is one of the guards. He is beyond obnoxious and feels he's entitled to treat you like dirt. Even when you have an emergency case. This is an absolute turn off to even consider going to the embassy!If you can't hire people that know how to treat people with respect you might as well close up and leave with your arrogance!

Really sad
I am really sad frm wht i have read here! Oh! I am also afraid 2 go SA Embassy coz ,my friends told me dat there is gr8 problem there! So i don kno whts better 2 do...bt am still waiting my response but wht i wana 2 say is...we hv shame on the staff! ! ! Such disgusting peoples are selfish...
