Comments on this High Commission

To the Honorable Ambassador/High Commission of the South Africa in Ghana:
I would like to bring to the attention of the South African Embassy that certain individuals at the embassy gate are demanding money from visa applicants. The security guards are refusing to let visa applicants into the South African Embassy Compound except the visa applicant give them all the information as to why they want to visit South Africa. They will then ask the applicants to give them (security guards) the document and they in turn will get the info for them from within the embassy. They (security guards/gate keepers) are also demanding the fee of $500 to $1000.00 for their service from the visa applicants.
I am writing to you from the US because I sent my uncle to the embassy last week to get an application for visiting visa so he can meet in South Africa. Upon his arrival at the embassy compound, he was told that he could not get into the embassy compound and that he should provide or state his reason for the visit and they (the guards) will bring him the info/application. Their demand to him was that he pays them $1000.00. This kind of behavior from the security guards is totally unprofessional and has the propensity to tarnish the South African embassy reputation.
I am asking the honorable ambassador and high level officials of the embassy to please address this kind of unprofessional and unethical conduct effective immediately. There should be no middle man between the embassy and visa applicant. The applicant should be able to enter the embassy and speak directly with embassy personnel without any interruption from the gate keeper (s). I pray that this matter will be addressed at once.
I thank you for your prompt attention to the matter in advance.
Respectfully,
DS
