I'm gonna clarify something for all the people trying to call the consulate: Please don't bother calling or leaving voicemails, they will not get back to you . If they do, consider yourself very very lucky. I called a zillion times and they never answered. I had to miss work only to go there make an appointment. I do have to admit, they're all very polite and helpful. But they should hire more help.

Is there anyone at the consulate taking care of the messages?
With all due respect, I'm wondering if there is anyone physically present in the Newark office.
I'm trying to get some information that I can't find elsewhere. I left 3 vocal messages and sent 2 emails wihout any enwser so far.
Is there anyone at the consulate?

Not having any luck so far
Like the last reviewer, I'm also required to travel far out of my way to this consulate instead of taking care of my documents at the NYC consulate (which has been helpful and lovely). I've left two voicemails which have not been returned, and now when I call the phone seems to be off the hook. I sent an email which but also have not yet gotten any response or acknowledgement. I am hopeful that this situation can be resolved soon.

Customer Service?
It is with all due respect that I leave these comments. Perhaps there is an understaffing or undertraining issue. I have called for some information on necessary documents prior to making a very long ride to visit the agency, and have been unsuccessful in reaching someone. I went onto the website & attempted to send an e-mail from the link provided, but it is not valid. I tried to use the "virtual consulate" link, and also not valid/no response. Considering the lack of customer service availability, you would think that there would be access to necessary forms online in order to speed up the process-- but there isn't! What Am I missing here?

Eu ja fui muitas vezes ao Consulado de Portugal em Newark,NJ,,,nunca tive problema.
Sempre fui bem atendida e muito simpaticos comigo e com o meu marido.
Qualquer documento que queria, era resolvido rapido. Eu nao conheco alguem dentro do servico.
Acho muito estranho, o que esta acontecendo.

What the hect is this Newark consulate doing?
I tried to get the Portuguese passport renewed. I've been calling for two weeks now and left many messages. I haven't received any call back. I can't find any application on the web to download, office hours and instructions of what to bring or whether you need appointment or not. Does anyone have any information?
