This place is a joke I've been calling for 4 days plus I left messages!!!! What is the problem that they can't answer the phone..... U can't see them without an appointment but you can't get an appointment cause they don't answer the phones for days at a time...... Who is the manager there and how do I speak with that person.... AWFULL CUSTOMER SERVICE
I have been calling, and emailing the consulate for information, relentlessly for the last 4days. Either their phones, and servers are out of order, or simply the staff believes they do not need to provide answers and service to their patrons. Had this been a urgent situation god knows where I would be. I believe they misunderstand or do not know the meaning of their job titles "Funcionario Publico" Public Services Clerk. These folk commonly have serious delusion of grandeur. Unfortunately a very common aspect of the Portuguese Government and Social Agencies. What a way to develop and help truism! LOL

Amazing, same question gets me different answers form different people on call back. Oh and BTW, sorry you folks have to be bothered with answering questions or providing some form of 'polite' customer service.

desire dual citizenship
My great grandparents were Portuguese citizens. My grandmother ,I believe, was dual, but born in Portugal. My mother was born in Portugal, but my grandmother opted for American citizenship. I would like to get a dual. How would I go about doing this? I have my grandmother's birth certificate from the Acores (hand written only copy because the church she was born in burned down), her marriage certificate, and my mother's birth certificate (hand written)from the Acores. Think Outside The Box
I had no problem in getting my documentation. My first step was to call and get all the information I needed before showing up. Guess what I received all documents within a month. No problems. Stopppppppppp complaining.

Selling Property in Portugal
I am an American citizen with a mother who is Portuguese. She is 87 and currently resides in the US. She has a house and properties in Portugal.
What steps do I need to take prior to her passing in order to facilitate the selling of her home? do I have to report her death to the Portuguese Consulate?
Do I have to go to Portugal within a certain time period to claim the inheritance? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Muito Obrigado
