I lost my BI while travelling if I want to apply from Manchester how long it will take to get me the new one.please tell me so I can take the necessary steps.

Procedure to renew your passport or cartao de cidedao
The best way to contact the Consulate in London is on mail@cglon.dgaccp.pt .... I had a response from them within a week and they provided good information on how to book an appointment, documents required etc.

To book your appointment with the consulate you need to go to www.portaldascomunidades.mne.pt

You then select "Agendamento Consular Online" followed by "Efectuar Agendamento"

You then enter your cartao or billete number (should be 8 digit number). your date of birth and press the magnifying glass afterwhich you choose the consulate i.e. Londres(London). You then register online entering the same details as before along with your name, email address and phone number.

In the additional information section you need to state what process you wish to undertake at the consulate i.e. passport renewal, new passport, cartao renewal etc.

FYI for cartao choose civil identity documentation which will then allow you to choose cartao under the "Ato Consular" section. For passport renewal its travel documents and the electronic passport option will be made available. You then tick the statement at the bottom of the page and click "Calendarizar".

Choose the date within the excel calender using the arrows. The selected date and time will pop up and you click " submeter agendamento"

You then fill in the number code and "confirmar agendamento"


You will then be sent a confirmation email for your appointment which you MUST PRINT AND TAKE WITH YOU TO THE CONSULATE.

Please note: YOU WILL NEED TO BOOK A SEPARATE APPOINTMENT TO RENEW THE CARTAO AND PASSPORT SO TRY AND ENSURE YOU HAVE TIMED IT RIGHT TO GET BOTH DONE ON THE SAME DONE IF NEEDED.
