We are hoping to get married in Tavira (Algarve) and wondering if we need to marry in UK first or if it is possible to do it legally over there and what forms/ paperwork we need to complete beforehand. Will we be able to do this from the UK or will we need to travel to Portugal before the wedding?

I already have my appointment to renew the citizen card. But at the moment it is expired and I need some document that proves that I am waiting for the new one. Without that I can't work while I wait and my situation becomes more and more precarious. They do not accept me in any job because with outdated identification they can not even insert me into the system. Are there any alternatives while I wait for renewal?
