Ezekiel I send you my hearty congratulations and welcome you to the Portuguese Goans club. It is indeed a time of celebration. I recommend that you obtain your BI and passport directly in Lisbon if you are in a rush to migrate anywhere.

I wholly agree that Goans should avoid being blind sheep herded into the UK. I myself worked in Geneva for three years and got elevated to a better life in Abu Dhabi where I have since been a resident for the past decade.

There have been some derogatory comments about the Gulf region in this forum and like any place on Earth none are perfect. However for a number of economic and social reasons the power of a EU passport regardless of skin tone was amplified in the Gulf.

Luck and favour of God must indeed shine on all Goans. Work from a place of patience, long term thinking, monetary and social implications instead of from a place of desperation. You will surely find that one place on Earth where as a Portuguese citizen you will thrive.

To Ezequiel
Yes, I’m aware of racism in England.
I was once told to go back to where I come from in Yorkshire. I was on holiday nevertheless not even an immigrant. London is less racist but English people are in the minority here.

Britain is an American puppet.
Regardless of what Boris and the ERG think, under American pressure they have no choice but to prevent a hard Irish border. Biden has already said he won’t allow the Good Friday Agreement to become a casualty of Brexit.

My rationale in hoping for a Biden victory is largely demoralizing the Brexiteers. They need a good lesson after how they’ve behaved over the past few years.
Biden pressurizing the UK into a soft Brexit to avoid a hard Irish border will be the pinnacle of humiliation for them.

Jack et al. US elections, Avoid the UK, Racism
Yes, I'm hopeful that Biden will win, but then again I've given up on the UK. As long as the UK is ruled by Boris Johnson and guided by the ERG (European Research Group), and advised by Dommnic Cummings, it's in very bad hands. The whole idea of getting a "Good" brexit deal has been out of the window for quite a while now. Whatever they get now would be better scraps of the dinner table.

I'd encourage others to follow my thinking and consider other European countries in the EU. You have a much bigger scope than limiting yourself to the UK, which has an increasingly hostile population from England.

I'd just like to update concerning racism in the UK. My uncle and his family live in Scotland. He and his wife struggle to make ends meet. He works for the NHS, but his wife has been trying to get a job. She's working on getting her Master's degree there, but now with COVID, her degree isn't going to be of much help in the field she's studying into. But she did mention that the Scots can be a bit racist concerning job opportunity choices of candidates. On a friendly sociable side, they are friendly though. But in England, she said that they can be racist right in your face.

Please be wary of your choice on moving to the UK and consider both good and bad points.

Free movement could continue in the UK (Northern Ireland) post Brexit
A Biden victory is looking increasingly likely. All he needs to do is hold onto his lead in Michigan, Nevada and Wisconsin and he wins.

If this holds, there is a very high chance that the UK will do a deal with the EU. A deal which would ensure free movement continues in Northern Ireland at minimum. Biden has committed to preventing a hard border in Ireland.

Considering how the Brexiteers have behaved in the past few years, a Biden victory is set to greatly demoralize them. Something I take great pleasure in. As Portuguese citizens all of us should take pleasure in the demoralization of Brexiteers. God Bless America.
