Comments on this Consulate-General
Hi Kat, I'm told their is a view in the government that the act of registering ones birth in another country is considered as taking up citizenship. Ie citizenship by registration. BI and passports can only be given to citizens but the mere fact that you don't have these documents doesn't mean you aren't a citizen of that country.
Just letting you know what I've understood on the matter. I may he wrong and maybe others can also advice.
I’ve recently heard that MEA is revoking Indian passports of people who have a BI and also those who have registered their birth and are in possession of the assento de nascimento.
Is this really true regarding people who have their assento? Since they have only registered their birth and haven’t yet got the citizens card, why are they being considered as foreign nationals?
You will apply for passport only after you get your BI.
I had seen in RENEWAL CASES, some had come for Bi renewal appointment, and had their passport also to renewwd, the Counsulate has taken BI and Passport RENEWAL appointment together.
You have to talk to them and request politely.
I really don’t understand what is rosy problem. N I don’t think it’s rosy. Someone scary pot behind the messages n ruining all the conversations. Clara is helping out ppl. N it’s a matter of life. People don’t have work over here. N are tryg to built their career somewhere else. So pls u ideal person mind ur own life. Stop creating fakes dramas.
Thank you so much Clara. Ur very helpful. Also I have put my bi for renewal. Which I’ll be getting by end of December. Are there possibility that I can take appointment for passport now n wait?
Suppose you apply for passport on first ( date), you will get a mail by third week for appointment which will be exactly after a week.
After you attend your appointment for passport, approx a month for collection.
In total, two months from applying for passport till collecting the Passport.
How long does Portuguese passport takes after u get bi in hand.
Thanks to Suella.
Dev Borem Koru!
