Response from the Polish Consulate to my complaint
I complained today about the charge for what should have been a free visa for my mother and the length of its duration. To my complete surprise the Consul general himself intervened, he phoned my mother and promised to refund the wrong charges and assist with issuing the right type of visa. Just want to say, that the Russian and the British diplomats in my view have quite a lot to learn from that gentelmen. Thank you, it was a very pleasant surprise.

Transit Schengen Visa
My mother applied for a transit schengen visa yesterday, 28th of June. She was given in the past numerous visas by your consulate and the Polish consulate in Edinburgh and recently they all were free of charge. She is a family member of EC national (me, her daughter is a British citizen.)Yesterday she was told that it is not a valid reason to issue her with a visa free of charge. I spoke to the staff at your London consulate and they can't see why you decided to charge her. This morning I spent 30 minutes trying to get through to you by phone, but nobody answers them. You even do not have a message recorder. Please, review your decision and give my mother a 12 months visa so she could travel back to Kaliningrad in March 2013. Returning the cash you wrongfully took from her would be nice, but expecting it is rather unrealistic, I appreciate it.
