The back side of the passport tells that it is a property of the issuing country. it can be presented to any other government agency such as immigration and labor office for verification and screening of legitimacy of stsy in a foreign country. Surrendering of passports to employers is not good. First, it is a means to hold the employee back unjustly, can be used to abuse the employee as a means to coerce (labor pressure). Non issuance of payslips and non-compliance to signed work contracts is illegal. Most Chinese and Malaysian employers do this bad practice. Therefore, if your passport is in possession of the employer they can hold you in the neck unjustly. Better report this to the Philippine Embassy for advise.
Pls email me a Visa Application Form to neeyalin@gmail.com.. Thanks...
I am currently working here in Madang. After i arrived, my employer inform me to hand over my passport to them for security reasons. At first, i was hesitant, but later on i give my passport to them. My question is are they allowed to keep my passport? With regard to the contract, there are many stipulations in the contract that are not follow, some of those are, we are only allowed to have lunch for 15minutes, we have no holiday, no payslip and many other. Anyone there could give me some advise on what to do. Thank you.
