Disappointed
Having acquired all the information about taking a holiday in manila from your embassy here in nairobi,i was inadmissible by philippines immigration on 22nd jan2012. Its a shame, disappointing and disgusting that the immigration officials mishandled me cos i did not have the hotel accommodation, which my friend who i was joining at the same airport had agreed to make a hotel reservation on arrival. Its very important to inform visitors of all the requirements. From your embassy, travel agent, document profilers at qatar airways, and kenyan immigration,i only required a passport validity of 6mths frm the departure date frm phillipines,at least two unused visa pages,no tourist visa for a max stay of 21days and sufficient funds. Nowhere and nobody said hotel accommodation is a must entry requirement. I had a return ticket and i presume the immigration should have been considerate. Therefore embassy should update all the information to avoid tourist's mental torture on arrival at phillipines. I was mishandled, grounded and later deported which meant i had to be on a journey of 30hrs without rest and my air ticket went to waste. I term this behavior as inefficiency and discrimination from immigration at manila quino airport as i was the only one deported and other white people were given some forms to fill out and then allowed entry. My friend,a british national, did not go through such a mess yet we were both to make hotel reservation at the airport depending on our choice of style. Mike, who was working closely with immigration was indeed threatening me and the ladies kept on shouting without listening. They did not consult me of their decisions and even after talking to my friend who assured them of hotel accommodation, all they said was that their decision was final and that commissioner was away to revoke it. I would like to know ur take on this issue. Kindly get back to me:phebbzke@yahoo.co.uk.
