I am Filipino with South African residence visa because i am volunteer religious worker of Youth With A Mission (missionary). I got my Ghana visa in Philippines. Since my flight to Ghana with Arik airlines passess thru Nigeria, i planned to make stopover on my return trip- June 6-14. I am in Ghana since May 16. It is always a problem for Filipinos working in Sierra Leone to get exit clearance from POEA. Until now, Sierra Leone is ban for overseas workers. One of the reasons was Sierra Leone is still a conflict country and was not updated until todate..09th May 2011.
How can this be when today Sierra Leone is peaceful and UN peace keeping troops were out in the country since 2008 Oct?
Would the embassy be kind enough to update status of Sierra Leone and send this information to POEA?
Filipino workers in this country is growing because of the mining sector. Yet they have to struggle to get exit clearance at POEA office in the Philippines.
Please take action on it.
Thank you
