Commercial’ Transfer Seen
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 12: Knowledgeable sources from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor have said a decision will be issued allowing those who came to the country on commercial visit visas to transfer to work permit before the relevant committee is formed in the middle of March to study the mechanism of transferring visit visas to residence permits, reports Al- Anba daily.

Sources said all individuals entering the country on commercial visit visas before the end of March - whether they came to the country before or after the decision was issued - will benefit from the grace period, indicating the transfer of visit visas will be subjected to new regulations after mid-March where applicants must be medically fit, holding university degree and experienced in their specialty, while their areas of expertise should be reflected in the academic certificates they hold.

Under the new regulations, workers recruited from abroad will be put on 90 days probation during which the employer and employee will both agree on whether to continue the visa transfer procedure or leave the country.
