Greetings from Life Association Bangladesh !
We would like to inform you that Life Association, a renowned non-governmental organization has been working at the coastal areas of Bangladesh since 1989. Its head quarter based at Bagerhat district in Bangladesh where the super cyclone SIDR was commenced on 15 November 2007.
It is revealed that, the biophysical system in the coastal zone of Bangladesh is highly vulnerable to salinity, sea level rise, cyclone and storm surges. Significant part of the coastal area is already facing problems related to salinity intrusion, which will be pronounced further under warmer climate particularly due to seal level rise. Sea level rises also leading to submergence of low-lying coastal areas and saline water intrusion up costal rivers and into groundwater aquifers, reducing freshwater availability; damagers to the Sunderbans mangrove forest, a World Heritage Site with rich biodiversity; and drainage congestion inside coastal polders, which will adversely affect agriculture and domestic water use, among others, are key vulnerable areas and therefore need new approaches and technologies to deal with existing and future salinity and cyclonic problems in the coastal area. Life Association has good relationship with the local community and capable to perform any sorts of activity for the greater benefit of them.
We, therefore request an appeal to you to do something particularly those people who are environmentally displaced, vulnerable due to impact of sea level rise.
