To whom it may concern:
I am writting to request your assistance in solving a case with one of your Nigerian citizen.
I am Manuchekhr Sharipov from Tajikistan. I work as a lawyer in my country and currently responsible for protecting the interests and rights of a Nigerian citizen. His name is Raymond Izuhollis Ezebuo, born 18.09.1973 from Lagos, Nigeria. Raymond was convicted in 2008 for "Illegal trafficking of narcotics or psychotropics substances, precursors with the goal of their selling" for a sentence of 18 years in prison.
Since Raymond was in jail, Tajikistan's parliament adopted two amnesty laws. According to these laws, Raymond's imprisonment years was reduced by seven years. He has to stay in prison for seven more years.
I couldn't find any way to help Raymond besides extraditing him to Nigeria. But unfortunately there is no agreement between Tajikistan and Nigeria about extraditing prisoners.
He does not have anyone in Tajikistan who can visit him. His mother is very old and sick in Nigeria and she cannot visit her son. Also, his wife is seriously sick and she lives with their two kids.
I think we can all agree that everyone makes mistakes at one time or another in their life. We are all human. Raymond has already paid dearly for his behavior, and he feels intense remorse for his actions in the past.
On March 30, 2012 I visited your embassy and I spoke with Mr. Segun Ibidapo-Obe about Raymond’s case. He told me to write an official letter. That is why I am writing, asking you for help.
I realize that this may be an unusual request, however I would be very grateful for any assistance you could provide. I look forward to hearing from you.
