You need your US passport to travel to the UK. Outside of the Netherlands, your Dutch residency card is only valid in conjunction with your passport, not on its own.

If you attempt to travel outside the Schengen area without your passport you will not be allowed to board the flight.

Hello:

Im an american citizen living in den haag. I have a dutch residency card. Can I fly to london with my dutch residence card only?? Or do I need to show proof of my american passport?
