I am permanent residence in Australia and seek to renew my Mauritius passport in order to travel there late this year. I am Mauritius citizen and I am 17 years of age. My father has misplaced his National identity card. We were unable to obtain a new one. I would require information on if it is possible to be eligible for a Mauritius passport under only one parent's identity card (My mother) even though she has passed away, along with her death certificate? I have all other necessary documents to get a renewal for passport including form, birth certificates, evidence of citizenship etc.
If this is not acceptable, what would be the required steps to take in order to be able to get a renewal of a passport or a new national identity for my father?
Sincerely,
Samira Amisse

Tracing of ancestry of Furlong in Mauritius Dear Sir,
In the middle of last year we have visited Mauritius and had a wonderful time. While there we have made enquiries at the National Archives regarding my great great grandfather Birth Certificate, as we found out that he served with the police force in Mauritius.
We had seen a Paymaster's Book from around the 1850's where his name was listed as Brigadier of the police and I assume was born somewhere in France. My great grand mother who was named Elizabeth Furlong was born in 1836 in Mauritius.
As we were short on time to make further enquiries I sent 2 E-mails to Mauritius (10/10/2010 and 4/1/2011) and asked for a copy of his Birth Certificate, but so far had received no reply.
We would appreciate your help in this matter as I'm trying to trace my family background.
Thanking you in anticipation,
Yours faithfully,
Margaret Varadi
