I am tourist from India planning to go to Mauritius for a holiday . I have a valid passport and outward ticket. I am staying at my friends house , she is an mauritian citizen. Do i need a visa on prior? Or is it visa on arrival. What are the documents I need

Hello there,
I am a mauritian student studying in Hyderabad.Actually am going home on the 7th May and i went for the extension of my residential permit as i would be returning back on the 29 th july and my permit expires on the 29 th june 2011. But these people at the immigration just rejected my application saying that i have to come atleast 2 weeks before my permit expires and i just told them that am coming one month after the permit expires.They just told me to extend it when am back and apparently they told me i also need to pay an amount for late application of extension but the thing is that i don't want to get in trouble at the airport immigration. can someone please respond to this issue and am not the only one who is having this trouble it's all the mauritian students studying here.
