I would like to know if I quality for a Mauritian Passport or identity card. I left Mauritius at the age of 16 with my family. I have been forever trying to get in contact with the High Commission of Mauritius on 02 62811203. The number is constantly engaged. I have been advised that it is the right number.
Dear Sir,
In the middle of last year we have visited Mauritius and had a wonderful time there. While there we made enquiries at the National Archives regarding my great great grandfather Birth Certificate as we found out that he served with the Police Force in Mauritius.
We had seen a Paymaster's Book around the 1850's where his name (FURLONG) appeared as Brigadier of the police. I assume he may have been born in France but he could have been english. My great grandmother who was named Elizabeth Furlong was born in 1836 in Mauritius. As we were short of time to make further enquiries I sent 2 E-mails (10/10/10 and 4/1/11) and asked for a copy of his Birth Certificate, but so far had not received any reply.
I would very much appreciate your help in this matter, as I'm trying to trace my family background.
Thanking you in anticipation, yours faithfully,
Margaret Varadi

hello,
I'm very happy to find out that there is a mauritian consulate in Brisbane. I am new to the city and would like to know if there is a mauritian association in Brisbane. I am interested in meeting mauritians to socialise and share experiences.
I would like to know how to use this website too. It seems that it is a one way communication. I cannot view the previous comments?
Thanks
Patricia from Wooloowin (Northside)
