Advisory for Malaysians Living/Working in South Korea and Malaysian Visitors to South Korea
The situation in South Korea is normal despite the escalating tension in the Korean Peninsula and there have been no official announcements to suggest otherwise. There is currently no travel advisory issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia on travel to South Korea.
2. However, the Embassy of Malaysia in South Korea would like to advise fellow Malaysians in South Korea and those who are intending to travel to the country to take note of the following:
· Monitor the ongoing developments through the media or local contacts. Malaysians are also encouraged to take all necessary precautions for their personal safety and visit the Embassy’s website at www.malaysia.or.kr or the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia at www.kln.gov.my for updated information;
· Malaysians living or working in South Korea should register as Malaysian citizen overseas using a form which can be found on the Embassy’s website www.malaysia.or.kr and send it via email or fax to the Embassy malseoul@kln.gov.my. This would facilitate contact by the Embassy should the need arise;
· Visitors to South Korea should inform the Embassy at malseoul@kln.gov.my about their travel plans including their personal and contact details while in South Korea.
3. In the event of an actual emergency, the Embassy will attempt to reach Malaysians in South Korea for contingency procedures as and when the situation deems necessary using the contact details provided to the Embassy.
