Dear Lao embassy staff,
Is it normal for Laos custom officers at the airport and at the borders to asked for a service fees$$$???. My first visited to Laos is made me don't want to go back. We didn't do anythings wrong and have all the documents needed and still The customs officers both at the airport and at the borders give us a hard time they didn't want to give back passport until we gave them $$$.

My stepmother got my father arrest for domestic violence. Once he got released,he found out that she took his car, money,and important documents. He also found out that she had a separate bank account, and two safety boxes that he was not aware of. Me and my siblings believe that she set my father up by getting him arrested, so that would give her enough time to gather what she want and take it with her. We also think that she conned my father by coming to the US to just make money and send it back overseas to Laos. Throughout the 7 years of verbal abuse from my ex-stepmother my father still stayed married to her.My father loved her & was the breadwinner, he would just work & when he got paid he would give her the money without asking what she was going to do with it. She cleared my father out! Now she owns two big houses,land,cars,and businesses in Laos;has my fathers car,money,and two safety boxes at the bank. We just want to make the divorce process easy, but she is making it complicated by avoiding us and not communicating. I don't mind if she wants to divorce my father, but I believe that she did my father wrong. If he didn't married her she wouldn't get the opportunity to come to the US. "Is taking everything from my dad not enough" To whoever reads it, I'm not saying that all marriages from overseas are bad, but would like to let people know about what my family has experience from this. I just want to get the word out to just be careful about marrying someone from overseas because this could happen to you. Please help by giving me some feedback,and what should I do next? Thank's
My son, age 51, has a Laos girl friend has been living together for 15 years.. Her family still lives in Laos.. He had visited Laos and Thailand at least 15 time the last 10 years... LOVES it and LOVES his girlfriend.. She wants to go back and live.
Are there any jobs (his educational background: elementary private school/ boarding school and degree from University). Has ran a family beverage company,..sales.. management... also some teaching. etc. Well mannered and groomed..WHERE should he go to find a job to live permanently in Laos.. I suggested checking with Embassy...Can you help?msk
