Made in Occupied Japan
I would like to have the name and email address of your Japanese Ladies Associations in Ottawa. I have a dinner ware set made in Occupied Japan which I have to sell. I live in Smiths Falls and no one here even knows what that means. The set is beautiful and delicate and it should be in the hands of someone who appreciats it. It was a gift to my Mother after the war. It was my mother's pride and joy. I still have pictures of her standing in front of her China cabinet showing the set. I am hoping to find some one who would appreciate for its history.

Your truly,
Mary Di Lascio

Welfare of Bears in Japanese bear parks
Dear Excellency

I am writing to express my concern with regards the welfare of bears in Japanese bear parks.

I urge the Japanese authorities to carry out the following actions:

Provide support to the bear parks to develop naturalistic enclosures which allow the bears to express natural behaviours and contain sufficient space and material to allow behavioural enrichment. Enclosures should be built following the standards developed at sanctuaries for brown bears and Asiatic black bears globally.
Develop protocols under the supervision of a veterinary surgeon that is familiar with current practice in the care of captive bears, to ensure the condition, health and behaviour of all animals is assessed regularly, and a record indicating changes to the prescribed diet, health checks carried out, any unusual behaviour or activity or other problems, and remedial actions taken.
Develop initiatives to provide capacity building training for members of staff to recognise abnormal behaviour and clinical symptoms of illness and develop the knowledge of the diets, husbandry, and enrichment procedures required for the bears in their care.

If these conditions cannot be met I urge you to close the bear parks and support the humane euthanasia of these bears.

Yours sincerely

Notarized documents in Japan
1) Which public officials in Japan can authenticate a signature of a Japanese citizen who wishes to make an Affidavit to be sent to Canada?

2) The Montreal Consulate could not answer the question, the officer, Mr. Abe, Masahiro, repeatedly asked me to explain what exactly was the procedure to be signed and for what purpose. I was rebuffed by his stubbornness.

3) I phoned the Embassy in Ottawa and learned that the Japanese citizen should make her declaration in the presence of a Koshonin Yakuba, which seems a logical answer.

Thank you for the forum.
