Italian citizenship
Sir: I was adopted as an infant and ultimately met my biological family including my father who is an Italian immigrant living in B.C. What steps must I take to get my citizenship? My adoption papers do not name my father. Thank you for your help.

Re: Citizenship
Sonia,

It depends on many other factors. The fact that he is no longer living should not hinder your process; my grandfather had passed long before I applied and received my passport.

If you are writing on the Portland's Honorary Vice Consulate's site, that means you fall into the San Francisco Consulate's jurisdiction - http://www.conssanfrancisco.esteri.it/Consolato_SanFrancisco/Menu/I_Servizi/Per_i_cittadini/Cittadinanza/ All of the info you need should be there. Good luck!
