Comments on this Consulate-General
I would like information regarding the possibility of an Irish passport and citizenship upon retirement. I currently live in Chicago with my wife and daughter (Daughter recently graduated college an is working in her chosen profession.) Key facts are:(I know you will need confirmation)
1. My mother who is still alive and is in the U.S. was born in Ireland in 1910. She came to America in 1926. She has one niece living in Northern Ireland, but her brothers and sisters that remained in Ireland passed away. My father was born in Ireland in 1907, but I do not have the date of his arrival in the U.S. as I am outside of my home. He is deceased. Both of my parents were born in County Sligo, and my first cousin on my father's side still lives on a farm in Co. Sligo that is not far from the town of Sligo.
Please let me know if any of the above facts would be of help in obtaining an Irish Passport for my wife and me. If yes, I can supply documents related to the birth of my parents such as baptismal certificates, marriage certificates, dates they became U.S. citizens, the name and address of my cousin in Sligo, and the names and addresses of some of my aunts and uncles who lived in Co. Sligo. I may also be able to obtain documents on where buried in Sligo.
Thank you for considering this request.
