I advice more young Papua New Guinean’s students to pursue study abroad, if s/he get a scholarship opportunity. Never, quit and turn away from challenges if you experience anonymous setbacks, keep your head fix towards where your target is and look beyond the horizon. Always elevate the thought and bear in mind that, every choices you and I made will forge or shape ones paths that will in time determine the destiny.
Iam saying this because to achieve ones aim is not that easy as ones mind could imagines, people out there who achieve something have a certain level of determination and commitment despite the circumstances encountered, if we consider having an opportunity to study in any of the world super-power countries, thus such in time we will profoundly appreciated our decision and ultimately came to realize that, studying abroad in reputable institution is the ultimate means to achieve the best possible education, and contribute to the priority development need of our country (PNG).
This is because, the world’s superpowers hold the most influence when it comes to economic and political decisions. Taking for example, well-known potential or rising superpower nations as well as middle powers, and superpowers like; the USA, China, Japan UK, and just to name the few can effectively change the course of history with a single decision, since their influence is within their soil and reaches beyond their territories, therefore studying abroad in any of such countries is promising. Besides, those superpower countries have number of factors including economic might; military resources, human resources, and political influence that make them are distinct advantages over most of the other countries, and the expects might agree with me on this. For example, in the case of Economy Wealth, it can be understood that, money allows these countries to stock their arsenals and train their people, to improve their industries and strengthen their economies. So it can be said as, the world’s wealthiest nations have the advantage of being able to influence other world leaders, since they can use their economic advantage to affect the global economy.
On the other hand, Natural resources can also be a factor especially, if these contribute to the wealth of the country and in our case PNG; I can say and most of you will agreed , PNG indeed, itself is very rich, blessed and endowed with bountiful resources, just like in the case of Oil-rich countries; the logic is, such naturally owned countries are said to be the countries that are naturally wealthy and they can use their resources to control the actions of other countries that rely on their resources. However, despite all that is have, why poverty soars in most of these countries including us, in PNG as well? That means there exits a lack of human resources capacity, as some of you might say, and I would agree on that, because human resources drive the economy.
The world’s super-powers often have the best workforces that fuel the economy and give the country its economic advantage. Thus far, PNG is far behind, and hence it really needs to bolters and strengthen the human resources capacity building in whatever costs it takes. Given its enormous and vast natural resources, as we all knew however, presently it’s resources is sought-after by all the industrialized countries, so basically the country’s lack of good workforce is a factor that prevents it from attaining change and development directly to the citizen. Therefore, in PNG, the version of development we hold can be categorized as the peripheral version of the western capitalist features. It’s a necessity that must be swallowed and understood deeply.
