EMERGENVY INDIAN VISA FROM DAR ES SALLAM
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Mr Ghosh of The Indian Consulate in Durban who was most helpful in making it possible for my client to obtain an emergency visa from the Indian Consulate in Dar es Salaam within a day. My client flew from Dar es Salaam to Trivandrum in preparation for his mother's cremation. Many thanks also to the Indian Consulate in Dar es Salaam who issued the visa.

Poor Service
I have been trying to get hold of someone to advise me the requirements to have my OCI Passport changed as my SA Passport number has changed . You cannot get hold of anyone and the operator just cuts the call if she cannot reach anyone - Very poor service

tracing my roots in india
i arrived in india on the 5th dec 2010, travelled by air from dehli to jammu airport then to kashmir, back to dehli, then to mumbai ,then to vishagapatanam ,then to chennai, then to kochi ,. , finally back to durba, exprienced poor treatment from indian officials at all airport, very filthy toilets at airports. my worst exprience was at the municipality offices in annakapalle , vishagapatanam, place where my late dad was born ,official in charge was drunk ,refused to assist me to find his birth certificate to locate his actual place of birth,he requested me to write to him and then he will look into it,only had three days ,my main reason to go to india was to trace my dads whereabouts my effforts was a waste of time and money.the rest of my travells in india was incrediable . if someone can help me locate my late dads place of birth ,please contact me.

VISA FOR INDIA
I recently went to India and had applied for a visa to go to India and had requested for a multiple entry visa on the visa application form since I had booked to go to Singapore from chenniah and booked to come back to Mumbai from Chenniah. So as per our itenary we booked to go from johannesburg to Mumbai. Mumbai to Bangalore. Bangalore to Chenniah. Cheniah to Singapore. Singapore to mumbai and Mumbai to Durban. The employees at the Indian Consulate generals office in Durban made a mistake despite having seen the itenary( which is a pre-requisite with the visa application form). They made the visa single entry instead of multiple entry. We were totally unaware of this mistake since we had full faith in the Indian consulate. When we reached Mumbai from Singapore, the airport officials refused to let us into the country since the Visa was a single entry visa. The immigration officials in Mumbai treated us as second class citizens. They were unhelpful and told us to contact the Indian Consulate in Durban. It was a Sunday and 11pm at night. We were asked to board the next flight back to SA. We then contacted the present Indian consulate general- Me.Anil Sharan who was unhelpful and put the blame on us saying that it was out fault for not checking the visa before leaving. We had booked three days accomodation at Mumbai at a five star hotel which cost around 2000 dollars which was not refunded and we had to book another airline from Joberg to Durban which cost 6000 rands. Though we landed safely in Durban we were devastated and humiliated at the way we were treated at Mumbai airport. South African Indians keep raving about being proudly Indian but the treatment which the Indian offficials gave us was disgusting. The Indian consulate general is not helpful at all. Why are there no measures in India to obtain a temporary visa..Why are the Indian officials so bureucratic. Who is repsonsibel for refunding us the money we lost in our accomodation at Mumbai.
