Rio Tinto has become aware that a number of unidentified agencies are brokering opportunities for employment with our Simandou project in Guinea.
The unidentified individual or groups are currently advertising for a range of roles and are not operating as authorised agents for Rio Tinto.
Recently, these companies have been using LinkedIn and are approaching unsuspecting external candidates directly. There are approximately 200 known cases in the last 12 months.
Personal data is requested by the unknown parties including passport details and profile information. Following an online interview using windows messenger, a job offer is made by the company’s where after they issue fraudulent Rio Tinto contracts and particulars. An advanced fee is then requested for the processing of visa’s and associated administration.
The known details of the companies are Global Recruitment, M and J recruitment associates, SW6 recruitment and associates agency and Immigration Attorney Consultancy Service Guinea.
