France Nationality
Dear Sir,

My father born in Karaikal, Pondicherry in 1940 (French colony) and my mother born in Karaikal, Pondicherry in 1951 (French colony). Please inform me whether my parents eligible for French nationality. I have the birth certificate for all.

Though, my grandfathers also were born in Karaikal, once French colony they failed to register their birth.

Dear Sir, My family members said to me that they had applied for retaining french nationality. But as of now I dont have documents regarding such registration. Could you tell me which document is required for obtaining french nationality and from where can I retrieve those documents.

Sir, you were a minor on 16.8.1962, date of dejure tranfer of Fr, India to Indian Union. If your father opted to conserve french nationaliy by including your name in his declaration of option in the French cosulate general in Podicherry within 6 months from the abovesaid date, your father and yourself will be French. Your mother may have acquired and conserved french nationality by her marriage with a French. She is not convered by the Franco Indian treaty, 1956. You cannot claim frencn nationality thourh your mother, as born in 1951.Yours sincerely.

Hi Sir, I am born in 27-10-1951 in Pondicherry and my father was born in Pondicherry in 04-06-1925 in Pondicherry. He got married to my mother who belongs to tamilnadu in 03-07-1944. My parents were residing in pondicherry and passed away here. My Grandfather was also born in pondicherry and I have his death certificate and french voter's list belonging to pondicherry. Sir, Details are incomplete. Nationality of yourself and of your wife not mentioned, Any how, if you are French or a refugee, your wife can apply for visa de long sejour, as a wife of a conjoint francais.

Sir, I have seen your recent communication, Your mother is French by inclusion of her name by her ftther in his declaration of option, As a legitimate son of a french mother, you are entitled to get french nationality certificate. Hurry up. Gather all necessary documents. Declaratikon of option of your father is very important. All indian documents (full copies) to be attested and apostilled. Documents in language other than French should be translated into French, I can help you.
