Comments on this Consulate-General
Sir, the date and place of birth of your mother are not given. The date 16.08.1962 is an important for the ex french citizens born in French India, who have compleated the age of 18 years and who have domiciled either in French India or Indian Union, They were given six months time to subscribe a declaration of option to conserve french nationality in the CGF at Pondicherry. Those who made option remained french and the others (non optants) became Indians Your grand father had a certificate of renonciation. It is not known who had renounced, Furhter the renunciation cannot confer french nationality to an exfrench citizen non optant. He/she will beocme Indian by the effect of the treaty of cession, 1956. If your grand father and mother remained fremch after tje treaty, they should have registered their names in the French consulate general and voted in french elections after 1962. These are details to prove that they are french, You can also write to the Ministry of population,France, to know wheter they opted or not. For futher details you can contact me in my office (opposite to Dr, Nallam clinic, Pondicherry). My Cell No. 9843648646. Yours sincerely

Miss/Madam. Tou are having a valid carte consulaire
You are aged 25 years and you have voted in the french elections. How can you say that you are Indian? Have you repudiated your french nationality on the completion of your age of 18 years? If not, you will continue to be French. In the above circumstances, you can apply for a french nationlity certificate by sending an application in the presecribed form with explanaition of your right and acts of possession as french national, to the Greffier en chef in charge of nationality of the french persons born and settled out of France, His office address is 30 rue du chateau des rentiers, 75647 Paris Cedex 13. The application form and instructions are available in the French consulate general in Pondicherry. The certificate of nationality will enable you to get french passport and french national identity card and oter benefits, Yours sincerely
Dear all,
My mother is a French national by birth. As my grandfather worked with the French in his times.
I am 25 years now and an Indian national, studied in English school (cluny)
I have my name in livret de famille and also have a valid carte consulaire.
I've also voted in the French elections.
I wish to obtain a French nationality now for my career prospects ( I get offers to teach English in European countries )
Am I eligible to claim? If so help me with the required documents and brief me with the procedures.
Thank you.
Nishanthi
