To Mr, Sheriff. Continuation of the preceding reply,
Sir, If your name is not included in your fahter's option certificate, You can also apply fof the certificate of french nationality, You can quote in your explanation that TGI and Cour d'appel in Frabce held in their judgments in some cases of french nationality that the inclusion of the minor son or daughter by an optant is a mere procedural publicity and that the non inclusion will not deprive the minor children of the right of french nationality of their father. You can succeed. Yours sincerely,

Mr.Sheriff
Sir,You say that your late father was a french national. You were born in Yanam in 1953.He opted to conserve the french nationality during the option period (16.8.1062 to 15.02.1963) Please verify in his certificate of option, whether he got your name included as a minor son, If so, you are French, As a French national your father may be beving a Livet de famille issued by the Central Etat civil at Nantes in Hrance. If your birth details are entered
in this family record book, you can directly apply to the central etat civil in Nantes (France) for delivery of your birth deed extract, either by way of internet or by sending application form. For getting certificate of french nationality, you can address your signed application with your photo and documens required and explanation of your case, to the Greffier en chef, service de la nationalite des francais nes et etablis hors de France, 30 rue du chateau des Rentiers,75647 Paris cedex 14, France. Please send your application by registered post with A/D.

Sir, If you were a french citizen and major (18 years completed) born before 16.08,1962 in Fr.India and domiciled in Fr. India or Indian Union, you had to subscribe in person a declaration of option in the French consulate general in Pondicherry in order to conserve french nationality, If you did it, you will continue to be French. If you were a minor in the above situation, your father had to make the said option for him and to include, if he desires, your name in his declaration. If he was not alive during the period of option your mother should do so. Before 16.09.1962 if you were born in Indian Union or other foreign country, you need not make option. Finally, if you were born after 16.8.1962 you will have to prove that either your father or mother was french at the time of your birth, You have not spoken about your father and mother and given your date of birth, If all your details are known and all relevant documents are seen, the reply will be precise, otherwise it will be a general lesson how to get french nationality, Yours sincerely

Mr, Khan. subject: french nationality,
Sir, your mother's marriage took place on 13.02.1963. I presume that you were born after the said date , Your intention is to claim for french naitonality through yhur mother born in 1939 in French India to a french father. You are silent about your father because he may not be french national.
Let us discuss whether you can claim for french nastionality, You were born after 16,08 1962, date on which Fr. India was merged into Indian Union.
So you must prove that either your father or mother is French or has conserved french nasitonality at the time of your birth, If your mother subscribed a declaration of option in Fr. consulate general, Pondicherry, to conserve french nationality she will continue to be French and thereby you can claim for frnch nationaslity as a legitimaste son of a french mother, In the contrary case, you are INDIAN. Your sincerely,
Z.S.ARAVINDHARRAM

Mr. Nawaz. subject french nationality.
Sir, You have not mentioned the place of birth of your mother and your maternal grand father. We may presume that he was a french citizen because of his services rendered to French Govt in Yanam. The option period to conserve french nationality was from 16.08.1062 to 15.2.1863. Your mother and her father, both majors in the said period, should have subscribed their declaration of option to conserve the french nationality. If not they will become Indians, Your father is Indian. Born to 2 Indian parents in India You are also Indian, Your father, an Indian foreigner by marrying your mother on 19,9,1962 could not acquire french nationality. Only a foreing lady by marrying before 15.2.1963 a french Indian can acquire by right the french nationality, subject to some exceptions, You will be eligible to apply for CNF if you prove that you were born in French India or France and colonies and that one of your parents ie, your father or mother was French national, Yours sincerely.
