His Excellency Xi Jinping,

To Westerners, who witness the incredible cruelty committed against animals in your country, this represents a real insult to humanity.

Today, globalisation facilitated by all types of media communication, the Internet, Social Networks and International air travel all over the world has brought the peoples of the World closer together which in turn has meant increased knowledge of one anothers cultures.

Basically, over a few decades, the world has become a gigantic community where everyone is able to share their words, feelings, ideas, nobody can escape the considerable impact of this progress which brings nations closer together.

For this reason, the traumatizing events in Yulin affect us deeply. As spectators looking in we say, Mr. President, the spectacle we see is ugly and terrifying.

We also know that these poor dogs, who are often stolen from their desperate owners, are imprisoned in such unhealthy and disgusting conditions, making the eventual consumption of their flesh very dangerous to your people. Moreover, these animals are often killed in such horrible ways – they do not deserve such a terribly cruel fate.

Therefore, we write to you to express our anger and total disgust for these Chinese customs which damage the reputation of your Country considerably.

We are not politicians held by the constraints of protocol, profit, ambition and challenges. We wish to convey to the President of China, as a mere mortal man like ourselves, that this Festival of the consumption of Dog meat is not the festival of summer and life, but of torture and death!

China violates the human rights of those whose job it is to protect and respect the weakest in society.

We are all sensitive beings who desire to live! Humans do not have the monopoly on rights. China does not progress and is not worthy to take its place amongst the civilized countries of the world. China raises anger and hatred in people's hearts! We want to live on a humane planet.

When we commit such acts of utter cruelty towards animals, mankind disassociates himself from being a true human being.

Brutal violence carried out on animals is directly associated and connected with the use of violence towards other human beings.

We must have respect for all livings creatures, this is a moral principle which human kind must learn from childhood.

Man's best friend in China is a martyr!

We therefore respectfully ask you, as a human being and as the President, the most responsible person in China – a powerful but dehumanized nation, to impose laws for the protection of cats and dogs. These Animal Welfare laws should be legally imposed and give support to the brave activists whose courageous actions, try to re-establish the tarnished image of China. China who has become notorious for her unspeakable inhumane behaviour! The images that we are seeing reflect a dirty, cruel, sadistic nation drunk with the blood of murdered animals.

However many concerned Chinese people have themselves submitted online civil complaints urging your government to establish these laws. Why do you go on ignoring these complaints? Why are these squalid hellholes still allowed to continue to operate – inflicting agonizing and brutal deaths on innocent animals every day?

Is this your vision of a country reaching out to the future – the world at large cannot and will not accept this.

Are you prepared to risk continuing a trade that is not only tortuously cruel and barbaric but a danger to public health – to your own people and international citizens also?

Your failure to act is not only a heinous crime against the animals in question but also to the Chinese peoples who no longer wish to bear the shame and guilt of the dreadful cruelty of the dog and cat meat consumption trade.

In the people's Republic of China, where your representatives are elected by a democratic process, is it not your responsability as a citizen to end this evil, barbaric practice. If there are currently no laws in place, then it is your responsability to demand that such laws to prohibit the consumption of dog and cat meat are enacted and enforced as soon as possible. If this does not happen, we will not be visiting China.

There is no excuse nor justification for Torture and barbarism.

Mr. President, if the shameful and reprehensible festival of Yulin - a festival highly disapproved by the whole world - is not immediately cancelled, we let you know - politely but firmly - that we shall never visit China which loses its values and his soul by wallowing in the power of the money, the blood and the torture of the innocent living beings.

Dogs and cats are not animals of consumption !

Stop aux tortures inutiles
L'humanisme inclut aussi le respect des animaux. CAR beaucoup de gens comme vous ont oublié que les humains sont D'ABORD des animaux.
Les animaux souffrent comme nous et ne demandent qu'à vivre leur petite vie sereinement : ils ne demandent pas grand chose !
Alors cessez de les torturer et de les tuer comme s'ils étaient de simples objets ! En faisant ça, vous vous comportez comme des barbares d'un autre temps !

Chez nous le chien est le plus fidèle ami de l'Homme ;il aide les aveugles ,les handicapés au quotidien ,il recherche les disparus lors des tremblements de terre ....y compris chez vous en Chine !!! Comment pouvez-vous les massacrer pour ce que vous appelez un Festival ????Nous sommes révoltés par tant de cruauté !ARRETEZ YULIN !!!c'est indigne d'un pays qui se dit civilisé !

La Chine mérite mieux que ...
... que cette si triste notoriété internationale, celle d'un peuple mal dégrossi, capitaliste à outrance que seul l'argent intéresse, qui maltraite et torture sans vergogne les animaux, en ignorant tous les apports de l'éthologie! Je connais assez bien ce vaste pays, j'y ai des membres de ma famille par alliance. Je suis sûre que les autorités chinoises peuvent interdire, surveiller, punir toutes ces barbaries indignes des chinois et des animaux !
