My wife cannot locate her original birth certificate or her Egyptian passport-is there a way to apply for a replacement copy of her birth certificate?
She has her identity card from the eighties as proof she is Egyptian.
All Canadians can purchase temp visas through the embassy for around $100-$200, but you must send in your passport and pay the fee and wait.
The best option is to purchase the visa at the Egyptian airport when you arrive for only $20. USA dollars.
There are seporate waiting lines at the airport. 1 line for those who have visas already, another line for Egyptians only, and another line for those who need visas.
Make sure to ask for the right line to stand in.
I would highly recommend NOT to drink the water in Egypt as I get sick everytime I go there. Buy bottled water instead. The food is great and weather is perfect, enjoy.

Hello, my wife and I are planning on visiting Egypt.
We are arriving on a Cruise ship in Alexandria Port and going on a 2 day 1 night tour in Cairo.
Do we need to purchase Visas.
The web site above and other addresses given for the Egyptian embassy don't seem to be functional.
