Strengthen the capacity of community structures to Promote Issues based political Campaigns and conduct of Peaceful Elections in the West Gonja, North Gonja and Sawla -Tuna- Kalba Districts of Northern Region
The 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections hold unique prospects in terms of their competitiveness.

Perhaps as a result of the closeness of the outcome of the last elections, political parties have embarked on intense political campaigns since 2012.This is in a bid to win political confidence in order to win the 2016 elections. The two main political parties namely the ruling National Democratic Congress and the main Opposition New Patriotic Party are all working vigorously to win the 2016 elections. This is making the competition to become very keen and fiercer as the days draw closer.

In view of this the politics of insults, abuse and aggression is gradually gaining grounds and indeed dominating our political discourse.

This raises serious concerns over the conduct of violence-free elections in 2016 and the sustenance of peace and stability in our country.
Since 2000, the Political Parties Code of Conduct, voluntarily acceded to by all the major political parties in Ghana, has sought to regulate the conduct of political actors, before, during and after elections.

Even though the Code has been successful in guiding appropriate political behavior, it has been acknowledged that having a mechanism for the enforcement of the provisions of the Code will make it more effective in dealing with excesses by political parties and their supporters and ensure a conducive and peaceful environment for the conduct of successful elections.
This project therefore seeks to contribute to the process of ensuring peace during the political campaigns, voting and after the voting process by educating and sensitizing the electorates and bringing all relevant stakeholders on board in the West Gonja, North Gonja, Sawla- Tuna Kalba district of northern region..
Thank you.
