Carta al consul: detenga la barbarie
Estimados Sres. Embajada de la República Popular China
At. Honorable Sr. Cónsul:

Nos dirigimos a Ud. para manifestar la voz del colectivo animalista.

Como Ud. sabe, desde el año 2010, ha surgido la costumbre de hacer un festival anual de carne de perro en la ciudad sureña de Yulin, para el cual se masacran de 15.000 a 20.000 animales en tan solo una semana. No sólo el exceso es alarmante, los métodos no carecen de vil crueldad. Los organizadores del evento alegan demagógicamente ser un festival tradicional, pero entendemos que nada tiene que ver con tradición y cultura popular.
Los perros son robados de las calles o secuestrados de sus propietarios, los hacinan en jaulas diminutas apiñados en camiones, sin agua ni comida días enteros, para terminar asesinándolos con el único motivo de abultar los bolsillos de desalmados comerciantes. Los animales pasan un proceso tortuoso de maltrato con el mero propósito de ganancia monetaria para la industria gastronómica y de la piel.

Tan sólo saberlo es revulsivo. Al margen de que el perro sea considerado culturalmente en Occidente como un animal de compañía, y no comestible como sí lo es en varios países asiáticos, hay horrores sociales que tenemos la obligación humana de desterrar.
Gracias al activismo incesante de grupos animalistas internacionales, las autoridades de Yulin han anunciado semanas atrás una suspensión “temporal” de este nefasto festival, pero no han vuelto a confirmarlo y desatienden los mensajes de varias ONGs intervinientes, con lo cual, nos vemos compelidos a insistir hasta ver la certeza de una decisión que lejos de ser efímera y volátil, sea “definitiva”.

China ha sabido aportar en muchos niveles conocimientos de sumo valor al acervo cultural universal. Gracias al proceso de globalización y apertura de fronteras, hemos podido aprender nociones de espiritualidad, entre ellas el taoísmo, la práctica del taichí y chi kun, la riquisíma medicina tradicional china, entre los más destacados de un sinfín de aspectos de vuestra cultura milenaria. En el aspecto espiritual, su país ha estado siempre a la vanguardia.

Apelamos hoy a vuestra voluntad política de hacer llegar nuestra petición a las autoridades de Yulin para que no permitan desatender valores tan dignos y elevados, en pos de un capitalismo carente de ética a todo nivel: en el trato hacia los animales (perros y gatos en particular en este caso), y hacia miles de personas que sufren secuestros y asesinatos injustos de sus mascotas.

Nos manifestamos hoy, aquí en su casa, bajo el lema “Amamos vuestra cultura ancestral, no vuestra cultura criminal”, rogando sepan abrir sus puertas a la misericordia y cese el trato criminal hacia sus perros para una tradición absurda y sin más fundamento que la mera codicia y maldad.

I'm an American who is looking to get a Chinese visa and head there very soon. I am volunteering in Uvita at the moment and I was wondering if it was possible to do all the paperwork and things from here and then pick up the visa in San Jose when I go back through to fly out?

Prescription
I purchase my medication from China and they need an export document each time I place my order for them to ship. The company in China requires me to get the letter to the China Embassy form Costa Rica Ministry to be signed by me and notorized by the Chinese Embassy in Costa Rica. I live in Jaco and it would be difficult to travel each month for a notary. Are there any other solutions?

dissagreement
Hi every one iwas wondering if this embbassy would be able to give me some assistance in solving a dissagreement with the chineese based company hua-wei in Costa Rica.osta Rican bussiness man I am very upset with this company since novemeber 2012 i am expenting a payment of over 100k us dollaras and there is no sign from the company that we can reach any agreement.Before taking further actions for example court or display it on our national media, i would like to know ifthere is any possibillity or any advise from your embassy in order to take this issue to a happy ending

I am traveling for a Seminar in Indonesia. It is sponsored by the Canadian Ministry of Defence. They booked my flight to go from Atlanta GA in USA to Beijing, arriving July 5 11pm and departing to Jakarta July 6 at 9am. Do I need to get a transit visa for connection flight? Thank you.
