No response type of attitude
I have been calling the Myanmar Embassy for weeks and still unable to get in touch with them on the phone. All the lines have no one to pick up and answer them. Very frustrating with such services from the Embassy. I even sent them 2 emails and have no reply for more than 1 month. How am I going to renew the passport where there are no application form to download land also no one to give you advise or guide you on the procedures.

Is this the type of services we expected here in Singapore ?

My recent experience..
The following is my recent e-mail to the ambassador about the my problem. Of course, no one answers the phone calls or read the e-mails. I'll just post it here for everyone's reference. It's a little lengthy.

Dear Mr.Ambassador,

It is me again. Today, I just went to Myanmar Embassy in Singapore and had the worst experience of my life. I have never been so depressed about being a Myanmar National until today.

I have emailed you previously about my problem concerning my lost passport and the need for "Certificate of Identification". I needed it to travel out of the country since my SOCIAL VISIT PASS has expired and I am on a special pass from the ICA which expires on the 22nd, which is tomorrow, Tuesday.

Since there was NO REPLY on how to proceed, NO INSTRUCTIONS whatsoever on the website or the general internet, I just went to the Embassy.

I was there at 9 a.m. I took a queue like everyone else. I did whoever is in charge of the counters instructed me to do, paid $30 dollars in "service charges" and waited for my name to be called. When my name is finally called, at 12.30 p.m, the ladies in charge tells me I do not have the necessary documents confirming my status as a "full time" student during the period of the passport's "Issue date" and "Expiry Date" because they do not know whether I was "working" and just doing part-time "studies". Therefore, they needed to be sure whether I had to PAY TAX before issuing me the certificate.

A couple of problems here.

1)How come I was not told of this EARLIER? How come I had to go through 2 QUEUES, 3 COUNTERS and had to WAIT 3 hours and 30 minutes just to be turned down?

2)They told me I was not prepared. How was I suppose to KNOW when I COULDN'T CONTACT through ALL of your telephones numbers, NO REPLY through e-mail and NO INFORMATION on the website?

3) My school is a PRIVATE INSTITUTION (MDIS). Singapore laws CLEARLY STATES that I cannot engage in any FORM OF EMPLOYMENT while holding my STUDENT PASS. And I've got a transcript of my FULL COURSE of studies from Diploma to Degree. Apparently, it doesn't show anything that says "FULL TIME STUDENT" on it so it wasn't VALID. They asked me to get a letter of confirmation from my school, which is a very plausible thing, except that the school also needs at least 1 WORKING DAY to process it.

After I was turned down, I politely backed off because it was your lunch break time and I respect that you guys have certainly been working hard. I came back again later, ONLY TO BE TOLD TO GO AWAY.

Finally, I found a nice person who was willing to listen to me.

I told him I was at risk of getting DETAINED and BLACKLISTED by the Singapore Immigration. If that happened, I will not be able to come back to Singapore easily.

Not only was I at risk of being shut out from the country my immediate family was in but my future to be able to work in Singapore. He listened and the only advice he can give was to NEGOTIATE with my school to speed up the process for my letter of confirmation and come back tomorrow again AND NEGOTIATE with the person in charge because If I do not get an early issue to my "Certificate of Identification", I will not make it IN TIME to show the Singapore Immigration.

I had no further choice but to rush to my school and BEG the staff to please issue me the letter ASAP. It is SAD and HUMILIATING that my OWN COUNTRYMEN were not able to help me but strangers could?

Luckily, they were MORE UNDERSTANDING then my own country's embassy and agreed. Thou the best they can do was 10 a.m.

So I hope to God that everything will go well tomorrow so that I don't get LISTED as an OFFENDER of the Singapore's Immigration laws by the ICA.

3rd world embassy in 1st world country!
We travelled 25 mins to get to the embassy, arrived 20mins after the embassy's opening hour.(If we were to make it for 9.30am, we would have to deal with rush hour in Orchard). There were already 50 numbers before ours. After 1 hour of waiting, there were still 43 applications before us, so I thought (One hour to deal with 7 persons!!). It turns out agents with multiple (like 5) passports are also using the same queue, and who knows how many applications were before us, even though the number was 43!! Unfair and frustrating system with only 1 person working at the counter for tourists, who are actually paying $35 for a limited-day visa. This system belongs to those countries where your time is nothing to those in authority, or who have no interest in their tourists' dollars/time. We had to wait 3 hours to get two person's application in, and then we still have to go again for pick-up! What more can I say about third-world country, with a third world power-playing system. Just to think I have to pay so much to get in already kills my joy for going! If you want to get your application in for the morning, be there for 9.30 am or before (am sure there'll already be a line up). Or get an agent, if you can trust them with your passport and money!

Myanmar Embassy in Singapore is F**KED-UP
The ppl working in Myanmar Embassy are evil, they have no attitude. All they know is how to suck blood from Myanmar ppl. Myanmar Embassy, not only in Malaysia, but everywhere in the world is F**KED-UP! They just want the tax paid by Myanmar citizen, they didn't even do a proper work for them. The ppl working in Myanmar embassy are not also very cruel, but also very cunning. They are worse then Burmese soldiers, who kill civilians only by order, but for those ppl working in Singapore Embassy, they are tutoring all Myanmar ppl in Singapore intentionally. Hope their doomsday ll come one day. Believe in karma, see what happens to those ppl working in Myanmar Embassy Singapore.
